I personally think that fake flowers are just that, very fake. I also think that there are other ways to cut costs. I have seen all different fake flowers ranging from cheapie ones to the "real looking" ones and I still can tell they're fake. And, I don't think they photograph well. In the end, you have to do what you have to do. But, look in to other places to cut costs before you make a decision. I personally think that favors are such a waste. Nobody is going to drive home and be upset that they didn't get a bag of candy or a wine bottle opener. Being invited to a wedding is gift enough. That's always an option to save money. Also, cakes look amazing if theyre styrofoam all but the top layer. They're icing'd or fondant'd all the same, and you can cut the top layer for pictures sake. Somewhere else, just have sheet cakes and serve your guests from that.

i think that if done properly, fake flowers can look just as beautiful as real ones.
budget wise, it would probably be cheaper to go fake (you can end up getting more and out of season flowers too, which costs a fortune for real ones.)
there's not necessarily an "out of season" flower since they're all grown in other places anyways. Definitely not a true statement.

My flowers should arrive either tommorow or Dec 24 from Wedideas.com. I received pictures and they look like real flowers, I really think it depends on what the flowers look like whether or not to do silk or real. I know the cost difference is extreme when it comes the difference between real and silk orchids.

Originally we were getting fake flowers and I actually had the arrangements made at Michaels, but I ended up not being all that happy with them, especially my bouquet and I didn't want to have any regrets since they are in almost ALL the pictures and I am so happy we went with real.

In the floral business if something isn't growing in your area during that season it's considered "out of season." Because, yes, it's grown somewhere else, but it costs EXTRA to have those flowers flown in. So yes, that's a true statement.
For example, the flowers I want either don't grow in nature or they are a very costly flower cause they aren't grown in many places, are a hybrid, and/or they are of a rarer color. Depending upon what you want flower wise, it's MUCH cheaper to buy quality silk flowers in bulk than pay $3 a flower for the real thing!
Plus, not everyone cares about the flowers. I don't really care about the flowers, or the cake. The silk flowers I got look beautiful and, honestly, no they don't look fake. I have to touch them to know for sure. That's why you buy QUALITY.
