We are making ours completely from scratch
We're using cardstock, stamps and some gems and writing what is to be said on the inside ourselves!! Don't have pics right now, but if you'd like to see I can definitely take some!! We bought everything from Wal*mart and Hobby Lobby!!!

I've got photos up now!

There will be a silver or white ribbon holding everything together (I haven't decided which color yet), but otherwise, that's how they'll be. I'm happy with how they turned out
I LOVE the layout/style you chose! I have been looking for ideas and inspiration for invites since the beginning of the engagement! Nothing is uniquely 'us' and still elegant, which is how our wedding is going to be.
Anyway, What is the final measurement of your invites? I am going to try to tackle them!
PS-hooray for 10/10 brides!! AND, you have the same last name as my kindergarten teacher... ![]()

Thanks! I couldn't find anything I was in love with either, and I'm thrilled with how these worked out ![]()
For the folded/"circle" piece, I used a 12x12" piece of cardstock and cut it into 3x12" strips so they end up being 4x4" when all folded. Then with all the background pieces, the total put together size is 4x6". I just kinda guesstimated for the sizes of the silver and white cards, so I'm not exactly sure what their exact size is.
When I was doing them, it's easier to keep the 12x12 piece whole and cut the half circles on each end first, then cut it into thirds. But, I was using a circle cutter, so if you're drawing the circles and cutting them with a pair of scissors, it might work better the other way. I'm rambling...I hope that makes sense!

Thanks! I think it all makes since! I showed FH (who has NO interest in DIY wedding stuff AT ALL) and he said "I am sure YOU will have fun making them." Butthead.
Anyway, happy planning! Thanks!

I was wondering if anyone has or is going to make their invitations completely from scratch? I mean like buying scrapbook or cardstock paper and starting just from that? ( I don't mean like buying the pocket invites and then inserts and just printing them off from the computer) Anyone have any pictures?
I made everything but the envelopes. Hand drawn maps and designs.

How did you do the design? By hand then printed it out?
Love everything.
Where did you get the envelopes from? Did they already have the pockets?

I did all the designs (vines, flowers, font, map) in Adobe Illustrator.
I bought the envelops from Papersource.com and the Papersource store.
I think they have pockets but I didn't use them cause for the size I wanted (5"x5") they didn't have what I wanted. So I cut and made my own from 20"x26" sheets that they sold. It was easy enough with a rotary cutter.
All together with ribbons glue paper panels, envelopes and inserts it cost about $1.35 per invite.
Good thing about doing it yourself is that you get exactly what you want.
