Clinique skin care system users... (*especially* "type 3" skin...)

Hmmm, well I use the Liquid Face Wash for oily/acne prone skin, the #3 Clarifying Lotion, and the Mousturizing Gel....I really like all of them, but I do normally have fairly oily skin, and this stuff controls it really well. Sometimes in the dead of winter, when it gets REALLLLLY dry, I also dab on some of their "Moisture Surge" cream. It's just an extra-moisturizing cream to spot-use. I've never had much of a problem with over-drying, but if it's that bad, I would try maybe switching to the Mousturizing Lotions vs. the Gel, because it is richer. Maybe go to the Clinique counter and talk to them? They should be able to help...

does it dry the BEJESUS out of your skin?????????

yeah okay... im not oily for the most part, but its making my skin flake now its drying so much... my face has NEVER flaked before in my LIFE.

are you supposed to just put the little square lotion on and be done?  or do you need to put ANOTHER moisturizer on top of it?  ...cause from what ive gathered, that was supposed to be it... but i just put makeup on for the first time ever, and rubbing my foundation pad over my face made ALLL the lose flakes pull up and be visible... it was awful... i was like... fuzzy haha.

i just ran neutrogena moisturizer over my face, but im wondering if i need to drop down to type two?????

anyone knowledgeable in this?

Em, you should exchange the moisturizing GEL for the LOTION, they look the same but they're different and type 3 comes with the gel. If that doesn't work than drop down to type 2. Good thing with Clinique, they let you refund and exchange if it's not working. smile

I've ALWAYS had dry skin. I use step 2. I use a LOT of that yellow lotion stuff! Sometimes I wait till it dries then put MORE on. I don't break out as long as my face isn't dry. If my face is dry, I break out. I didn't know this for a LONG time. I was *okay* during high school, but when I turned 19, I don't know if it was my anxiety meds or WHAT, but I just started breaking out like nuts.

Now I'm a lot better. But I keep up with my step 2 and LOTION! Lots and lots of it. But, my skin's naturally dry so... I'd be using lotion a lot no matter what. Would appear that I'm no help at all! wink

I'm the same! I use type 2, and the yellow moisturizer mostly in the winter - in the summer I use Cetaphil facial moisturizer - it's way cheaper and has an SPF, which this moisterizer doesn't - I don't usually wear makeup, so the moisturizer has to have the SPF in it! I have super dry skin, but also find that the yellow moisturizer makes me break out if I use too much of it. I've never had that problem with cetaphil. I hate that winter's coming...I can feel my skin flaking the colder it gets! sad

Maybe it depends on the store the Clinique you bought it from is in, but I've bought mine at Nordstrom and they've always said I could return it.
