Why does she want it?
Recently I was gifted with a stainless steel dome plate cover from a friend who knows how I love to host formal dinners. I thought it would be PERFECT to have about 10 more of these little sets, but I can't find them anywhere!
I don't want sterling silver, and not the flat top restaurant lids with the hole in the middle...I want a solid silver dome with a little ring handle or other tab on the top for the server to take the dome off without fingerprints.

Ah hah! Found it! These sold on eBay for only $5 a piece, and they are exactly what you need. The line is called "Jazz" by Oneida, and they look to be tough to find, but not impossible. This is a more simple plate cover -- more appropriate for home entertaining than silver with finials.
This is a real challenge! These plate covers are, as you probably guessed, old-fashioned and hard to fine. They are also crazy expensive -- real silver plating! I suppose there are less-expensive substitutes, but maybe if you're going to spring for formal, you want to go all-out.
