A decent little album with the obvious highlight being "Knockin' on Heaven's Door." I don't want to undersell that point, since it's one of Dylan's finest moments in his career. The rest of the album is mostly very pleasant instrumental work. Roger McGuinn et al. show up for few tracks and Booker T is present on a majority as well. A decent little album with the obvious highlight being "Knockin' on Heaven's Door." I don't want to undersell that point, since it's one of Dylan's finest moments in his career. The rest of the album is mostly very pleasant instrumental work. Roger McGuinn et al. show up for few tracks and Booker T is present on a majority as well. This release tends to get overlooked since "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" is readily available on any number of compilations, but the rest of the material here works on its own merits and is worth a listen for any fan of this early 70s period of Dylan. The highlight of the album is "Knockin' on Heaven's Door", of course, but the main title (instrumental version) is very nice too. Those who haven't seen the movie aren't missing a must-see, but if you like Sam Peckinpah, it's a good one.
