  Show Ratings Hide RatingsClass Easy    Interesting Useful Instructor Bobkov, K Knowledgeable Clear  Enthusiastic Very cool class. After 4 weeks of rather trivial thermo, you jump into the heart of classical field theory - E&M done Purcell's way. The textbook is absolutely amazing and will carefully guide you through electricity and magnetism like no teacher. Bobkov more or less read from the book, but that was fine. Besides, he was a highly approachable lecturer and a nice guy all around. Exams and homeworks weren't bad at all, though the final was a bit above the level of the previous material. |

Lecture-3 hours; discussion-1 hour. Prerequisite: two years of high school algebra or the equivalent in college. Descriptive statistics; basic probability concepts; binomial, normal, Student's t, and chi-square distributions. Hypothesis testing and confidence intervals for one and two means and proportions. Regression. Not open for credit to students who have completed course 13V or higher. GE credit: SciEng.-I, II, III. (I, II, III.)
