The Political Compass
Welcome to The Political Compass. This application comes from the originators of The Political Compass which has been on the web since 2001.
The Political Compass positions you on both an economic and a social axis through your responses to a series of propositions during the next 3-5 minutes. In each instance, you're asked to choose the response that best describes your feeling: Strongly Disagree, Disagree, Agree or Strongly Agree. At the end of the test, you'll be given the compass, with your own special position on it. Your Political Compass chart will also be added to your Facebook profile.
The Political Compass concept is the core of our work, and the test simply demonstrates it. The test is not a survey or questionnaire, and it is not nation-specific. It contains propositions - and that's a very different proposition. The Political Compass is a universal tool applicable to all democracies , and spans the full range of political thought, not merely those that are predominant within any particular country.
The idea was developed by a political journalist with a university counselling background, assisted by a professor of social history. They're indebted to people like Wilhelm Reich and Theodor Adorno for their ground-breaking work in this field. We believe that, in an age of diminishing ideology, a new generation in particular will get a better idea of where they stand politically - and the sort of political company they keep.
Please note that in common with other Facebook apps, your score from this test will be recorded in a database and used for social networking functions within Facebook. We will not use your score for any other purpose, or share it with third parties: however if you have concerns about your score being recorded, we suggest you take the test at the Political Compass Website. It is the same as the one presented here, but reveals your score to you alone, without logging it on any database.
It is necessary to install the app in your profile before it will work properly.
