All donations to The Golden Sock Fund benefit Bridget Ann Joyce.
Bridget was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, Mucopolysaccharidosis or MPS type 1, also known as Hurler's syndrome, in January.
MPS disorders are genetic disorders that limit the body's ability to produce certain enzymes needed for metabolizing complex sugar molecules. These diseases are progressive and cause cellular damage which severely diminishes quality of life and dramatically shortens the lifespan of those affected.
There is no cure for Hurler's Syndrome. Bridget has been undergoing Enzyme Replacement Therapy and had a bone marrow transplant on July 10 to slow the progression of the disease.
Please join us in supporting Bridget and her family, and spread the word by inviting all of your friends! As always, keep them all in your prayers.

Thank you everyone, especially for your prayers. Bridget is hitting a rough patch but this was to be expected. God blessed us with her getting through the chemo and the transplant with no difficulties. He will continue to watch over her throughout her recovery from the transplant. She still has her spirit and her cute smile she just isn't feeling very well right now. Thanks for your support! The Joyce Family

Bridget did well with her transplant. She slept through most of it because of benadryl and when she woke up she asked for pudding, cheese and to play basketball. She got the pudding and cheese. Today she may be able to play basketball in her crib. : )

Transplant time is 11AM this morning, July 10th. She's wearing her gold socks! The nurse said Bridget is strong going into this and her platelet count is one of the best she's seen going into transplant. : ) Thank you GOD!!! Thank all of you for your prayers and well wishes!

I think we should declare June 10 "Golden Sock Day" and all wear gold socks in honor of Bridget on the day of her transplant!
I'm going to try to friend a few Penguins profiles, maybe persuade them....I was just kidding, but maybe it might work.
