Campaign Description
Our friend Celina was recently diagnosed with two types of cancer. She has invasive breast cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes and possibly other parts of her body, as well as cervical cancer. She is a good person and lives a healthy lifestyle. She developed cancer at a young age due to a genetic hormonal disorder.
She is currently in a state of financial crisis. Although she has been working as an English teacher in Korea, she has sent most of her earnings to Canada to pay off student loan debt. In the past month she was forced to spend all the savings she did have on diagnostic testing and breast cancer surgery. After her surgery she was informed that she needs 8 sessions of chemotherapy as well as radiation and hormone therapy, starting at the beginning of October. Due to the side effects of chemotherapy, she has quit her job and is returning to Prince George, BC, to live with her mother during her treatment.
The Medical Services Plan in BC has a mandatory 3 month waiting period for medical coverage upon returning to Canada. So the first 3 months of her treatment will not be covered financially. The cost for the first three months of treatment is estimated to be about $15,000. On top of that, she will have ongoing living expenses as she will be unable to work for a minimum of 6 months and possibly longer.
CDI, my company, has graciously started the donations off at 100,000 won (a little more than 100 USD) and I will be donating a matching sum. Please feel free to donate as little or as much as you can comfortably afford. A small donation from a large number of people will quickly add up to cover the cost of Celina's treatment!

Hi Celina,
I just know this news today( I came accorss this website by accident,because someone sent me the face book link today.Then I happened to have time to browse your face book in detail) . I want to dedicate below poem to you, because it reflects my feeling right now.I'll write you a mail soon.....
Hope is the thing with feathers--- by Emily Dickinson
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.
Go Go Go
Be a tough girl !!

No problem. Adam and I will be giving Jareb our donation at the book club meeting.

Hi Barbara,
Can you give it to Jareb? Or are you in Changwon? Beth may be a good person to give it to if you're there. If you're in Busan, just ping me via my email cdibrandon@gmail.com and either me or Jareb can collect it from you. Celina can't do that much moving these days and so it may be tough to even connect. She's also rushing to get back home to start her chemo ASAP. Thanks VERY much for donating! :)

Jareb put me down for a hundred too - can I meet you and pay you in cash or would it be better to give it to Celina directly?
