Band Bio: Although Pittsburgh singer-songwriter Brad Yoder plays out mostly in solo or duo acoustic incarnations, his latest CD "Someday or Never" (2007) demonstrates that there's more than a little rock under those folksinger trappings. Brad averages over 150 shows each year, in Pittsburgh and throughout the East Coast and Midwest. His eclectic mix of humorous, poetic and thought-provoking original songs has won over audiences of all ages at colleges, coffeehouses, clubs, church basements and even the zoo. A perennial fan favorite, Brad has placed in Pittsburgh City Paper's top three slots for "Best Acoustic/Solo Artist" every year since 2002, including four 1st-place awards. Brad has performed at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Pittsburgh Folk Festival, Three Rivers Arts Festival and the North by NorthEast Music Conference (Toronto) and has opened for a wide variety of artists including the Cowboy Junkies, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Tegan & Sara, Ellis Paul, Lynn Miles, Todd Snider, Steve Forbert, Robyn Hitchcock and Hot Tuna. Brad’s songs have been featured on “Dawson’s Creek’s” 5th season DVD, NPR’s “Car Talk," CBS’s hit show “NUMB3RS” and in the Senator John Heinz History Center's 9-11 exhibit. More than 6,500 copies of four self-released CDs have been sold, including 2007's "Someday or Never," which Ed Masley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette described as "..an album stacked with brilliant moments." The addition of the dynamic upright and fretless bass-playing of Jason Rafalak (+mandolin & vocal harmonies) has added a new level of excitement and arrangement possibilities to Brad's live performances. Since their debut at the 2005 Three Rivers Arts Festival, Brad and Jason have been steadily building buzz in Pittsburgh and beyond, playing as widely as Connecticut, Charlottesville VA, Rochester NY, Philadelphia, and Minneapolis, MN. Whether playing a small room or festival stage, Brad and Jason create music that makes audiences think, laugh, feel, and sing along.
