Please use the Discussion Board to comment on new features, suggest new features, or just to discuss anything you want.

  • Sep 6 - I've finally implemented a feature that many people have wanted for a long time--a fridge! The fridge lets you keep track of beers that you actually have in your real fridge and beers that you wish you had in your real fridge. It's like a want/have list. Enjoy!
  • Aug 18 - RateBeer now supports the new profile tab feature of the "new Facebook". If you are using the new Facebook, go to your Facebook profile, click the "+" tab near the top of the page (where it says "Wall", "Info", "Photos", etc.), and select RateBeer from the list. This will result in a new RateBeer tab being added to your profile for all of your friends to see. It's basically like a gigantic profile box on its own fullsize tab.
  • Aug 18 - View your ratings side-by-side with another person's ratings and sort by how well you agree.
  • Aug 17 - Every person's ratings page now displays a short list of beers that they like and that you would probably like and, if you are friends, a short list of beers that you like and that you should recommend to them.
  • Aug 17 - You can now browse beer styles. When browsing a particular style, you can also now make the page display only beers that you have rated.
  • Aug 16 - You can now search within your ratings by checking the box underneath the search box at the top of every page. Also, page numbers now appear at both the top and bottom of the page to make page navigation easier.
  • Jun 21 - This RateBeer app is now a year old! Woo! During this past year, an unbelievable 700,000 ratings of over 32,000 different beers were entered by over 40,000 people. Amazing. The app continues to grow, and I add new features as often as possible. Want to have some say in what is added next? Now you can vote for which features you'd like to see next in this app. Just click here.
  • Mar 21 - Send beer recommendations to your friends.
  • Mar 9 - Import your ratings from RateBeer.com.
  • Mar 5 - Top 3 favorite styles and breweries in your profile box.
  • Mar 2 - Export ratings to Excel.
  • Feb 10 - The Recommendations page can now recommend to you beers of a specific style. Just search for a beer of the style that you want, then click on the style (which will take you to a page of all beers of that style), then click the new link near the top that says, "Recommend me some beers of this style." I'll make this feature a bit easier to use in the future, but for now this'll have to do.
  • Feb 10 - Now also shows beers' weighted scores in comparison to other beers of the same style/brewer, much like RateBeer.com's "Style Percentile" feature.
  • Feb 9 - Now the random list of ratings shown on each individual beer's page gives preference to ratings made by people in the same network(s) as you (as well as to ratings made by your friends, as it has already done for a long time).
  • Feb 9 - The Bayesian rating system enabled me to tweak the Recommendations page so that it should be even better about recommending you good beers.
  • Feb 5 - The app now uses a nifty Bayesian rating system similar (I assume) to what RateBeer.com uses. This means that the app no longer displays the exact average of a beer's ratings but rather a weighted average based upon the number of ratings that the beer has received. Apparently I can't explain it very well, but whatever--just know that it is better. :)
  • Feb 4 - Tweaks to the "This beer is most popular in..." section. Hopefully it's a little more correct now.
  • Jan 28 - Woo! Half a million ratings!
  • Jan 4 - Beer label images
  • Jan 3 - Recommendations page now gives preference to beers that have been rated by several other people in your network(s), under the assumption that this means that these beers are probably available in your area.
  • Dec 9 - This app was featured in the NY Times today.
  • Nov 24 - Now shows peoples' favorite styles
  • Nov 20 - Browse by beer style and by brewer company
  • Nov 18 - Beer style, ABV, brewer company/location information for each beer.
  • Nov 15 - The home page now shows the recent top raters and the recent top networks (as opposed to the all-time top raters/networks), just to make it a little more interesting.
  • Nov 6 - Added the ability to sort by rating date on the Ratings page and by signup date on the Networks page.
  • Oct 26 - New Top Networks page.
  • Oct 25 - Two new sections at the top of each "View Beer" page: "People that like this beer also like..." and "This beer is most popular in..."
  • Oct 24 - New page listing other users in your network(s).
  • Oct 8 - Based on feedback from some users, I've changed the app's name from Beeeeeeeer to RateBeer.
  • Oct 5 - Spiffy brand new RateBeer front page (You're lookin' at it.)
  • Sep 29 - Invite your friends with the new Invitation page
  • Sep 27 - Now it is much easier to rate a bunch of beers at once. You can now rate beers on most pages simply by clicking the stars.
