What would be your first response if someone asked you "How much would a copy of OpenSolaris cost me?"
Its free to try but you need to pay if you want support.
Are you kiddin me?? OpenSolaris is as free as sea water man! Just pick it if you need it
Its Open Sourced.. Some one tricked you if they made you pay for it!
I can download OpenSolaris Community Edition for free
2.
What would be your first response if someone asked you "What you like about filesystem support on OpenSolaris?"
ZFS is default and other filesystems like UFS and NFS are also supported.
Why should I care! It just installs without bothering me about it!
It has to be ZFS! I love the way ZFS snapshots do tricks for me!
ZFS filesystem would make your system travel in time man! Plus you can also download stuff to support NTFS filesystem and check all your Windows stuff in while you run OpenSolaris!
3.
What would be your first response if someone asked you "Last night I downloaded a few video clips from the Internet. How do I watch them on OpenSolaris?"
I would install VLC Media Player. The default totem player does a decent job although.
Install VLC Media Player! Its a no brainer man!
Try VLC Media Player. You could also try gxine and if you are smart enough then you could build MPlayer from its source!
Dude! I don;t watch videos on OpenSolaris!! I don't even have a monitor attached to the node on which it runs!
4.
What would be your first response if someone asked you "What is DTrace?"
Its all about probes and providers and applications! Its cool man!
DTrace is a tool I rarely use. But I know its a powerful thing those AJAX developers at Google talk about a lot!
DTrace stands for Dynamic Trace and it can be used for varity or purposes! Some of them being, doing performance analysis of your program and debugging software applications!
Its a tool which would allow you to debug an application while it is still running!
5.

RBAC is the way I keep my OpenSolaris secured from no brainers!
RBAC is Authentication Framework of OpenSolaris!
I read it somewhere on the net about it that it can be used to keep my OpenSolaris secured. I used it to prevent my 10 year old cousion from spoilling my computer!
RBAC stands for Role Based Access Control and it enables the administrators to provide just enough powers a user needs to live comfortably!
6.
What would be your first response if someone asked you "What would be the best antivirus for OpenSolaris?"
Use ClamAV if you want to control viruses passing through Sendmail running on your OpenSolaris server.
ClamAV.. But I never used it. I never had any virus ever touch my OpenSolaris and I want my computer to process MY PROGRAMS and NOT THOSE OF THE ANTI VIRUS! Do you get that?
I know that there are no viruses on OpenSolaris and so I don't need one!
You could download ClamAV. Others too exist and google is your friend here!
7.
What would be your first response if someone asked you "What OpenSolaris Desktop Environment would you suggest?"
I like the one which comes by default! It just works and has a very nice and sharp interface.. Very easy to use!
GNOME based Java Desktop is cool! I like it as it is quite effective.
You should try Java Desktop. With Compiz, the 3D effects are going to make you feel you are running one of those special computers they used in the movie Minority Report!
Desktop? Are you talking Window Managers to me? Dude its been ages since I saw a mouse pointer on my screen! I like my OpenSolaris terminal the best!
