Viral case of the blame game via USC/Stanford Research aka Why People Are Defensive
The reason: Blame triggers the perception that one’s self-image is under assault and must be protected.
I know one person in particular who can benefit from this. LOL

Google Apps: premature deletion in favour of a domain name alias
I set up a Google Apps account for a new domain a little while ago and
recently noticed that you can add domains as domain name aliases to an
existing Google Apps account.
to effectively overlay a secondary domain over a Google Apps domain
and run two accounts in one, more or less. Anyway, it seemed like a
good idea to simplify my Google Apps admin and terminate the newer
one. I did a little research and it turns out the domain name alias feature
only affects email and not other Google Apps. So much for that idea.
The empathy gene

Could some of us be biologically predisposed to empathy? New research from scientists at the University of California, Berkeley, suggests yes. In the study those with a specific combination of genes were the most able to get a read on other people’s emotions and put themselves in another’s shoes. Says one of the scientists in the Futurity article:
This is the first study to suggest that a tendency to be more empathetic and stress reactive than others may be influenced by a single gene.
Not to worry, those without the gene combination can still feel empathy; you just may work harder at making social connections. Check out the full (and much more complex) article in Futurity.

3 Next-Gen Applications for Smart Grid 2.0
Now that large, established players — Silver Spring Networks and Cisco (CSCO) — are building out the smart grid network, the next area for innovation will be the applications, software and services designed to run on top of the network. That's a trend we've covered, and it has been heavily discussed at this week's GreenBeat conference. As Khosla Ventures partner Vinod Khosla put it today, he's searching for the Twitters and Facebooks of the smart grid.
Khosla, who has seemed a lot more bearish than many investors in terms of the smart grid (in contrast, Steve Westly, partner at the Westly Group welcomed GreenBeat attendees to bring him their business plans), predicted not many of the next-gen smart grid entrepreneurs in the room would be successful, but that there would be enough winners to make the sector "interesting." Next-gen applications and services could sprout up in the middle of the grid or at the edge of the network. It's at the edge where Duke Energy CTO David Mohler said earlier this week he aims to "let thousand flowers bloom." Here's 3 companies that have developed next-gen smart grid services that were at the GreenBeat show:
Locust Storage: Locust Storage tied for the innovation award at GreenBeat (with established player CPower), and the San Diego, Calif.-based startup has developed a data storage system that CEO Seth Georgion says can reduce power of data storage systems in data centers by 90 percent. The device, which the company plans to commercialize early next year, caches data partly with flash storage (more expensive but a next-gen storage tech) as well as traditional spinning discs. What makes the technology interesting for the grid is that the storage unit can power up and down quickly and potentially add power back onto the grid in the same way solar can. It's an example of innovation at the edge of the grid with implications extending all the way to the data center.
Building IQ: Building IQ launched at GreenBeat and has created optimizing software for commercial buildings that is fully automated. The company sells its software via a subscription to building owners, and says its service can be used for a next generation demand response.
R2EV: R2EV says its on-demand energy storage solution, which is made of lithium ion and lithium polymer batteries, is a portable solution for the power grid. Based in Boise, Idaho, R2EV says it is working with the U.S. Army to commercialize the units dubbed Fuel 2.0. Again it's innovation at the edge of the network.

#Tila Tequila blames #UStream meltdown on beating by #NFL star #Shawne Merriman
It was her ex's fault.
Tila Tequila is blaming her bizarre Internet rant on Wednesday night - during which the reality-show star stripped, danced in the nude and rambled on for hours on her UStream page - on feeling "anxiety" over reliving the alleged beating her ex-boyfriend, NFL star Shawne Merriman, gave her in September.
According to TMZ.com, the bisexual star of MTV's dating show "A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila" says her meltdown was the result of "flashbacks" from the night when Merriman allegedly grabbed, choked and knocked her down.
"I couldn't sleep, and I started getting anxiety," Tequila told TMZ. "I just kind of flipped out a little bit."
At one point in the video, which has been taken down, Tequila says that "People call me an attention whore ... or whatever ... but excuse me, I'm a grown a-- woman and I'm confident in myself ... I think a woman's body is a beautiful thing ... that's why I'm a lesbian ... I was born naked ... anybody who is against that is gay and in denial."
Merriman was cleared of all charges, but this week a still-angry Tequila sued him for $1.5 million in damages. She released photos showing deep bruises on her arms that she claims were caused by Merriman, a San Diego Chargers linebacker.
"I just wish ... I hope that everybody gives me a second chance to support me this time, to give me a fair chance because they didn't give me a fair chance the first time," she told TMZ.
According to Usmagazine.com, Tequila also criticized Rihanna yesterday, saying the singer sent the wrong message when she initially kept quiet about the physical abuse she suffered from Chris Brown.
"No offense to Rihanna, but because of what she did, it sends out a message to everyone: When you get beat or abused, keep your mouth shut," said Tequila."
"So I decided I am going to come out and speak about it and fight for it. Her message was to say quiet," Tequila added. "And that's not okay."
