For the first time in my adult life I destest, despise and actually loathe a group of people for their blind loyalty to someone not based on their words or actions (content of one's character) but based on the party affilaition or ethnicity (see Obama, Barry H). She is part of leftist organizations that think the race (latino) is above all others and her actual words would have gotten her disbarred if she were something other that a "wise latina woman". Republicans, please don't hold back, the world needs to know all about her and the MSM with Keith Olberbum and Chrissy Matthews "aint" going to report the truth. An all womens organization, CHECK, LaRaza an all Latino group, CHECK, racist and bigoted statements, CHECK. Good job Obama and congratulations to you sheep, she is a perfect representative of your bahh, bahhh, blindness.

To those of you Limbauh Pinheads screaming Racists the only racists are the ones screaming it on this thread. Sotomayor's decision was also upheld by two other justices on the same panel, are you calling them racists as well? The Supreme Court overturned on a 5-4 vote, not really a landslide now was it. Are you pinheads also calling the other 4 justices racists as well? Do you pinheads ever listen to yourselves or do you just go around with your fingers in your ears?

An explanation about the book 'The Road to Serfdom' - It was wrote back in 1944 and basically condemns the government planned economy because, according to its author, this leads inevitably to tyranny no matter where it is omplemented and by which kind of government, he used the Nazi Germany and USSR as examples. History proved this idea to be WRONG, since most Western Europe stayed democratic while ignoring his warnings and so did Canada and USA, but Reagan and Tatcher loved the book and used it to create their versions of govern controlled economy (Reaganomics and Tatcherism), that truth be said WORKED at their time (over 20 years ago) even with some flaws that those who praise the idea tend to forgot. So phoenix86 and Michael, next time, try to scare us into agreeing with you with a book whose 'predictions' aren't worth a penny, albeit it has some good points in it.

Put Sotomayor & Ricci of New Haven firefighters together & she might back off her statement "latina women/white men." Does she not yet realize that affirmative action is a put down & means you are not quite good enough to make it on your own. Before everyone screams at me I should point out I'm a white female, former democrat (now independent) & I'm tired of all the PC stuff. You take a test, you pass-you fail. The end.

Conservatives have suddenly discovered racism. Up until 2009, they denied its existence in the USA. Those who are opposed to Sotomayor because of her racism can tell us if she is the only racist in America - or could there be others? Who are they? Should we do anything about them too? Or just Sotomayor?

Philibuster proof? They better take a look who is sitting next to them in the senate. There are some moderate and conservative democrats that may not take up the party line. Part of what seems to be going on is this polarization of right and left. What are you if you believe in the following: 1. Financial responsibility for yourself and your government. 2. Personal responsibility for yourself and your family. 3. The right to believe in whatever God or deity you want for all. 4. Less government and less taxation to support an overinflated government bureaucracy.

Another racist in the Supreme Court. This is great. Maybe she'll bring back segregation and the 2/3rds rule only this time she can oppress White males for freeing the slaves, championing the suffrage movement and making our nation the most prosperous nation in the history of the world. No wonder she hates White males.

It's beyond their comprehension and the problem with dumb people is that they don't know that they are dumb! It's a good thing for everyone! Gun/religion clingers, suck it up (at least) the next 8 years. Until then, keep doing research on Intelligent Design, touching yourselves and voting against same-sex marriage! You'll feel better, hypocrites! :) It doesn't matter what morons say, it's payback time! :) A brilliant move, Obama! :) Checkmate!

Dutch, Does it matter? There will be a strict party line vote on this one. This constitutional scholar has serious reservations, but the appointees in the last several years (with the exception of Alito, whom even liberal judges I know say was well qualified) are typically void of judicial credentials. If Obama did not control Congress, you would not have seen Sotomayor. They are trying to get her on while they can.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that in the Ricci case the Supreme Court overturned ITSELF? If Sotomayor (and the other panelists) had ruled otherwise, they would have been "activists."

I'm glad she will get a fair hearing soon. She is an amazing woman, and she will serve all of us well. All of you haters stop watching so much Faux News and focus on her entire record. She is much more moderate than Limpbaugh and other others have told you.

Mr. E

Posted on 6 July 2009 , 12:17 pm quote

She will get confirmed. The Dems have a majority so they can appoint anyone that they want no matter how unqualified. Liberals argue "so what 60% of the cases that she decided that went to the supreme court were overturned." They claim the supreme court is a conservative court so her decisions are expected to be overturned. However if even the liberal justice do not accept her rationale when they agree with her results how will she be a persuasive figure on the court? Answer: she will not be. She will not be able to counter Scalia, despite being billed as someone who might be able to do that.

You can thank President George Herbert Walker Bush for Justice Sotomayor--- he put her on the U.S. District Court in New York. Without that push off, all of you right-wingers wouldn't be crying "racist." Also, Sotomayor is Puerto Rican...so allegations that she will favor illegal immigrants is irrelevant--- Puerto Rican's aren't immigrants and don't need amnesty.
