She doesn't want to run for office, she's content to be a consistent advocate for curtailing all the rights stemming from the First Amendment.

Stu @ July 6th, 2009 2:24 pm ET "Palin is the only national level political candidate who is truly middle class. The rest, on both sides of the aisle, are millionaires out of touch with reality." I think if you look at the assets the Palin family holds, you will find that she is a millionaire, on paper, at least. As for her "touch with reality," we can only judge by her actions. BTW, there are several members of congress who are not millionaires. Dennis Kucinich comes instantly to mind.

Maybe Ms. Palin should have consider hte "inconveniences" of running a state when she ran for governor. Doesn't like the "commute"? What, did she think Alaska would move its capitol to Wasilla for her conveniences? And she doesn't like the media? I have a great idea. Media, ignore her. No more coverage. No more mics. No more cameras. Let's see how long she can stand that.

Think about it: Sarah's argument is that the media sunk her reputation. But she came out swinging in MN. She was out to clobber Obama's reputation and all. She was not a respectful adversary, and she even attacked the media. Plus, she was the one who gave those dreadful interviews, she would not take her teams advice, and and she made judgments as to who real Americans were, and were not. She did so without regard of what peoples response would be, and she did not like the results. Now she quit her job, but she can still make tons of $ which is not a bad spot to be in. SHE NEEDS TO STOP CRYING ABOUT HER COVERAGE. Nobody is assured fair press. The press is an element with its own properties. There is no controlling it. Once false move and Obama will have to court them too.

I WISH SHE WERE DEAD. SEEMS THE ONLY WAY THE MEDIA WILL FINALLY STOP MENTIONING THIS BRAIN-DEAD AND VERY, VERY DANGEROUS PERSON, WHO IS AN EMBARRASSMENT AND A DISGRACE FOR AMERICANS WITH A BRAIN. I don't know who she slept with to get to be a governor and to force McCain to "choose" her as his running mate, but I wish those people to rot in hell forever, as well as the brainless deer killer herself.

I am glad in a way that Sarah Palin wanted to leave public service to spend more time with her family and follow her personal agenda. I think family is most important. However, with our leaders, we need them to sacrifice their family and their own agenda somewhat for our overall benefit. The leader's spouse and others need to understand that. Although Obama could make a great involved father, he can't be there as much as his girls would want. That is a sacrifice that he has made and we should thank him for it. Likewise, I just had surgery -- and I am happy that my surgeon sacrificed his family to work 100 hours a week to train to be the best surgeon possible. I wouldn't have wanted him to leave training early each day to go home and play with his kids. Sarah Palin wants all the attention and fame, but may not be able to handle the stress and the time and the responsibility, and be able to smoothly handle critics, to really be a national leader. Not everyone can. That is why people need to be tested on a smaller scale before handing them the ultimate job. McCain, Hillary, and to a lesser degree Obama have been tested. Palin has failed. Who in history have left their jobs early to concentrate on a national campaign 3 1/2 YEARS before the election? That is crazy. She just wants to follow her own personal agenda of preaching to the choir which she can do and be successful at on Fox News or speaking engagements, but certainly she has failed as a public servant, sacrificing for the greater good. She will never get elected again. The only thing I see here is that she wants to become Alaska's senator in 1 1/2 years then run for presidency immediately after, and figures she can secure her and her family's finances over the next year. She can make millions. The Alaska governor's position is indeed getting in the way. Except that everyone will see through her ignoring local Alaska's needs for her own. That is quite selfish. This will fail, but in the end she will have millions. Who knows, she might not have had any other choice. She is not ready to give up a national agenda, but it was not working as her still governor -- bills were mounting and her approval slipping. So here we are.

"Her life is very difficult, she cannot spend time with her family." Really? Was Palin held hostage all those times she appeared at GOP fundraisers, rallies, interviews and photo ops? Wasn't her family with her at many of those media events? Isn't the primary responsibility for a governor to serve as the state's chief executive, not travel the country pushing his or her national agenda? Are we seriously expected to feel any sympathy for her?

CNN devotes disproportionate coverage to death of a celebrity they once hounded because --at least one suggested on Sun. morning-- they feel a little guilty about what they did to MJ. At that earlier time, both public and comedians ridiculed MJ as well. American media and unfortunately the public at large have the maturity/mentality of high school freshmen: Let's grovel before who is "cool" at the moment and harass whoever the cool kids don't like. Those shout the loudest who most need approval from the reigning prom king/queen/jock.. Sarah Palin is just the latest to be targeted LIke many who don't fit into high school cliques, she'll go on to a happy life.

I've always liked Sarah, but I don't see how this can be spun as a positive. It seems to me that she couldn't stand the heat as governor. I know she had more to deal with than most governors, but this is a woman who wanted to be vice president, and maybe president someday. I'm not sure how well she'd handle the job if the admittedly difficult trials and tribulations of governing Alaska was too much for her.

She has mounting legal bills so she quits her job and loses her income? That makes perfect sense - NOT! Of course, that huge contract she's going to sign with FOX will take care of all that! Love hearing all the Repubs trying to defend her resignation. If a Democratic governor did that, Repubs would be screaming that he's a quitter. Such hypocrisy! Well, I'll say it -- she's a quitter. Put that on your resume, a one-half term governer. A resume so thin you can see through it! Quitter.

If she truly quit for her family, then good luck. But what I think happened is the same as Ensign and Sanford. These guys were thrust almost unwillingly on the national stage by neocon agenda setters, with no vetting at all. They lived their lives and ran their deals ... what happens in _______ stays in ______. Esp freaking Alaska .. no one goes up there and looks around. This scrutiny is unwanted, wasn't looked for nor desired, but there it is. And these unprepared lives get exposed. I think Palin actually is doing the smartest thing she can and that's to get out from under the ethics probes and try to clean dirty laundry away from political office, so she can in fact come back on national scale. Alas, its too late. That genie is out of the bottle or out of the pipeline.

It is incredible how Sarah "Drop Out" Palin can quit at a time when "The Great State of Alaska", were she can see Putin (ha ha ha), needs her the most. She has no business in politics, and certainly no business in serving the people of any state or country, not even Iran or North Korea. Palin sees the world against her. She is always the VICTEM! The fact that all these problems are brought upon her by her own actions (dragging her family on stqge making them aprt of the political program) all points to the fact she does not really GET IT. If I were to run against Ms Palin either as a Republican in the promaries or a Dem in 2012 the first thing out of my mouth at every question or speach would be "Do yuou want someone that will go the DISTANCE or do you want a QUITTER?"

No, it's not a slap in the face to Americans who are deperately looking for work to see an elected official and self-proclaimed role model just pick up and leave her job. It's not selfish or cowardice, its all about using the family you are so desperate to protect as an excuse to leave a job that the people voted you to do. As for all the people on here who are defending her, when your bills are mounting and you miss your family who depends on your job to survive, do you just pack it up and quit because of the pressure?
