U.S., Russia reach deal on Afghanistan

Obama is just amazing. Getting them to do something they should have always done. This will be praised as one of his greatest accomplishments. He is the savior, the awaited for one, the messiah, how much did we have to give up to get them to conform to the United Nations resolution that was passed in 2001.

Oh yeah, great move, now we get deeper into debt with another ongoing war! We are not saving anything because we are sending in more soldiers and more equipment to take care of the problem. If you think this is so good, why did the the Russians not offer to help by letting some of their soldiers' go fight or better yet, why not offer money!

None of the 9/11 Terrorist were from Iraq. Most of them were from Countries that are friends of America. Even London Metro Bombing was done by Pakistan Terrorists. Pakistan is friend of America and an ally. Iraq was attacked for Bush’s Greed for Oil. Intelligence reports about Iraq’s WMDs was intentionally created to mislead Americans for their support to go into War. Bush admitted ”Intelligence about Iraq was a Mistake”..... Mistake that resulted into the deaths of 4300 US Troops and 45000 US Troops Injured. In 9/11 attacks about 2800 people died. And to imprudently remedy 9/11 we lost another 4300 lives without any success and we are still hanging in uncertainty and we are still unsafe. Weapons are Supplied to Terrorists by Countries like Russia and China. Iraq and Afghanistan, these countries can’t even manufacture a paper clip, leave aside sophisticated weapons. Weapons are not only being supplied to Al Quida, weapons are also supplied to Somalia Pirates.

@ RealityKing Someday maybe you'll learn that the S&P 500 is a better measure of how the economy's health is effecting the vast majority of Americans and that minor daily fluctuations in the DOW are meaningless. BTW, the DOW is up about 150 over January 23, 2009 and that's after the recession caused it to fall below 7,000 during March. Just like all the experts predicted (at least the sane ones who weren't saying stupid things like "the market will magically fix itself"), we're going to be watching it roller-coaster for a while.

As for the embassy, it was built by President Bush. I'm not sure anyone in their right mind would think that the United States wouldn't leave a diplomatic mission in Iraq. 1100 employees is probably close to standard (perhaps a bit higher considering security concerns). The United States has embassies in most countries in the world (and, you may be shocked to hear this, but other countries have embassies located in the United States). Obama didn't lie about this. You just weren't listening to what he was saying.

Can someone please tell me why for the last 8yrs nobody critizied Bush of his wrong doings and we are paying for it. Nobody said anything about his spending of 7billions dollars. Now since we have a Black man in office everything he does is in uproar or he gets blame for. Pres. Obama is doing the best he can and it will take awhile. A "deal" means each side gets something. We get to save $133,000,000 a year out of the $2,900,000,000,000 that we spend each year - that's 3/4 of 1% of the annual budget. What does Russia get?

Sifto, I'm sorry that you have simply absorbed the Fox News talking points to the clip that you have. Believe it or not, Obama has often talked about the greatness of the United States (check out his Fourth of July message for an example of this). However, you seem to think that anything short of Obama running around the globe saying "we're better than you" or "you're with us or against us" is unacceptable. Running around the globe screaming "USA USA USA We're NUMBER ONE" isn't diplomacy, and you lose more allies by adopting that as your only diplomatic strategy.

In this world that is becoming smaller and smaller, it is critical to be able to come to agreement with other sovereign nations, in spite of what the past relationship has been. We're not talking only about saving bundles of money for transportation of personnel and materiel to Afghanistan. We are talking about a lot more issues... broader issues, that bring two of the most powerful and influential nations together in endeavoring to do something proactive and aimed at creating greater peace. THAT is quite an achievement. ATTAWAY, Pres. Obama.

If we want to save money, lets get out altogether. This war is turning into another bottomless hole to pour money down. There's no real justification for being there, no plan for winning and no end in sight. I think we could enhance US security much more effictively by putting the money into taking care of our own house.

This agreement came about by talking to one another and each countries interest. Obama did not go there with a cowboys and indians attitude. He went with the intention of negotiating and compromises for the better interest of the US. Good job President Obama.

Ok ... NOW do a little investigating and reporting on what Obama GAVE in return. I already know what Russia wants and Obama will gladly give them: Poland. Obama was months ago offering to squash Poland's request for missile defense. Yeah - why should we care what a NATO ally who is all but defenseless against a bullying neighbor who a year ago invaded the province of Georgia???? Obama is a worthless community organizer promoted above his paygrade.

Well I guess I've lived long enough to see it all now. I remember when we were supplying Osama Bin Laden with weapons and support to destroy the Russian military presence in Afghanistan, it was a real meat grinder. I guess those Soviet vets that served in Afghanistan are just about ready to puke now! I wonder if their fellow country men spit on them when they returned home?
