iphone 3.0, did you know SMS are now sent in the background.

3.0 features, available June, probably with new hardware too: In-app purchase, peer to peer, accessories, Maps, push notifications, cut/copy/paste, landscape, messages, Voice Memos, Calendar with support for CalDAV, new Stock app, Search, and Spotlight."

This is cool:
db instead of bars,
call *3001#12345#*
once you dial in that code to get into field test mode...hold home down until field test quits. The numbers will now stay. You can tap them to change them back to bars.

Apple is going to do an OS 3.0 preview event on March 17th. I've heard that a new and better way for distributing developer apps, surprise using the App Store, is in on deck.

John, I hope you are right about the 6MP camera. The current camera sucks. Almost all of my photos are blurred. Imagine voice/video calling. That would be cool, no doubt.

If I were to guess I say June, that seems to be the "cycle" to iPhone upgrades. There is that persistent rumor of a "nano" iPhone too... smaller, cheaper.

Jason EdwardsMar 7

That's the one I'm waiting for. I decided to skip the 2nd gen 3G and wait for more MPs. I can't wait to upgrade... my friends with the 3G are razzed about all the GPS applications. Any rumors on release date?

John McDonaldMar 7

I hear the next model with have a ***much*** better camera. 6MP, better sensor, video capable. Another rumor is a camera lens on the front to enable voice/video calls

pat, 100% agree with you on voice dialing... its absolutely necessary.

I think the iPhone is a great phone, from what I've seen of it, but I won't buy one until the following issues are rectified:
1: It needs a good, speaker-independent, training-free voice dialing app. No call-in or Internet dialing - gotta run on the handset. See Microsoft Voice Command for a good reference.

2. I use Exchange ActiveSync, and I can't believe the limitation that a calendar event, once sync'ed to the server, can no longer be edited on the handset. I do enough calendar manipulation on my phone that this would be a big deal.

So for now, I'm sill on Windows Mobile.
