I think Santa is a nice childhood fantasy. Why rob your children of that much fun??
I don't remember getting all traumatic over the realization that Santa wasn't real. I think it's just a part of growing up. We should let kids be kids and believe in Santa and the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny and... I don't know, unicorns.
to see that happiness and joy on his/her face, the excitement he's going to have.... for all of these good and valuable reasons, Santa is a very harmless lie... actually he's what they should all experience about
It dawned on my eldest a couple of years ago that Santa couldn't possibly exist, she wasn't upset, she was just growing up and I doubt she felt at all deceived and won't need therapy to get over me lying to her. but she still loves Xmas and makes every effort to make it magical for her little brother just like I did for her. Kill joys ruin Xmas, bah humbug to them, I love it!
