Description: Social Media Marketing Intern

If you are passionate about social media, here are is a chance for you! SwapSity, www.SwapSity.ca, is seeking a self-motivated, bright and energetic part-time intern who is well-versed in most type of social media and online research. As an intern, you will be making an important contribution to the growth of our bartering community by leveraging social media. You will be working on various challenging and meaningful projects that will give you the hands-on experience with building a brand through online media. The internship is an excellent opportunity to make a measurable impact that you can show your future employers.


About Us

SwapSity is a Toronto based start-up facilitating online barter exchanges between Canadian consumers. Our swapping site supports trading of a wide range of goods and services between individuals and groups. Visit us at www.SwapSity.ca to learn more about our swapping community.


Key Responsibilities

· Expanding our social marketing activities

· Identifying new opportunities and solutions to acquire relevant visitors to our website

· Conducting qualitative and quantitative online research

· Identifying potential PR opportunities

· Exploring ways to further engage existing user base

· Organizing information and writing short reports

· Other related tasks

Qualifications

· Student or New Graduate in Business, Marketing or any other relevant field

· Avid user of social media such as Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Digg, Twitter, blogs

· Basic familiarity and interest in buy/sell sites such as eBay

· High work ethic

· Excellent written and verbal communication and good interpersonal skills

· Well-organized and detail-oriented

· Proactive and independent

· Marketing experience is an asset

· Video resume (e.g. on JobTac) is an asset



Duration

3 months: December 15th -March 15th (see note below)

Part-time:12-15 hour weekly commitment, schedule is flexible

Reduced hours during examination period

Non-paid internship

You will maintain a virtual office thus all work is done off-site

Uninterrupted Internet access and a personal computer are required

The intern reports directly to the Founder

Note: There may be a similar position open from mid March to mid June
