Description: Dependable Home Health Care seeks an individual to work Monday-Friday 4pm-10pm at one of our group homes in Andover.

General Position Description:
The Direct Care Counselor is responsible for providing on-going care and assistance to the residents in a group home setting by assisting them in all daily activities. Activities include those which foster resident independence, skills training, and community involvement. This position is also responsible for the knowledge of resident Risk Management Plans, all documentation procedures and medication distribution. The Direct Care Counselor position also includes some cleaning and cooking of nutritious meals with the help of residents.

Minimum qualifications:
Candidate must possess some college experience (at least 1 year)-majors must be in the Human Services field including but not limited to the following: Psychology, Education, Nursing, Sociology, Family Science, Social Work or any other related field. 6-12 months experience working with the developmentally disabled population is also required. Candidate may substitute 1 year of experience working with developmentally disabled individuals for educational requirement. Verbal and written fluency in the English language is required because significant completion of daily documentation is an essential job function. The successful candidate will also possess patience and a sense of humor.

Preferred Qualifications:
Two or more years of college experience in the above majors is preferred-we welcome new graduates looking for growth opportunities!

Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid Minnesota Drivers License; must have a clean driving record for three years prior to the drivers license check i.e. no DUIs, DWIs, Drug charges, Vehicular Homicide, leaving the scene of an accident, and no more than 1 moving violation within three years of application. CPR and First Aid certification or the willingness to attend our class, and Medication certification or the willingness to attend the class is required. Candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check!
