Description: Virtual Solutions is seeking the most innovative and motivated candidates for the position of Software Development Intern to work with a small and highly talented software development team at its Cambridge, Massachusetts location.

Full-time students working toward a Computational Linguistics degree or studying in a related field are desired for the development and testing of translation software. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a highly visible project, practice project management skills, and see your work directly impact a product.

Software Development Interns contribute to projects and research important to Virtual Solutions. Previous interns have worked on projects involving speech recognition, language algorithms, large test frameworks, and development of the next generation of Virtual Solutions core technologies. Interns earn a competitive hourly rate that depends on skills and experience. Ideal candidates will be available for a full-time, 12 week commitment. Virtual Solutions will consider part-time and flexible schedules for qualified applicants. The internship can be extended if mutually agreeable. Interns must be able to provide documents that establish both identity and employment eligibility in the United States.

About Virtual Solutions:

Virtual Solutions is a small business located in Cambridge, MA. Our current product, vCapture, combines proprietary software with a network of remote workers to provide data entry services to our customers. Our Research and Development team creates future versions of our product and works to develop and apply our software and remote workforce to new markets, such as translation services. The Computational Linguistics Intern will work on developing and testing our translation software.


Qualifications:

-Proficiency in at least one modern object-oriented programming language

-Familiarity with database technologies, website development, desktop user interfaces, software development practices and software testing

-Ability to work well independently and with a small team

-Coursework in Computational Linguistics


Desired Skills:

-Experience with software development on the Microsoft operating systems, including .NET framework

-Experience with Python
