About the area:
A quieter part of the ancient Le Marais neighborhood, the 3rd is one of the best places to live in Paris, and is a lively cosmopolitan melting pot of most diverse people: hip & trendy affluents, Jewish and gay communities, sophisticated businessmen & art connoisseurs. The area boast excellent position in the heart of Paris, with several wonderful markets, such as Le Marche Les Enfants Rouges, speciality stores (food, clothing, decor, art) fabulous restaurants, brasseries & cafes, and an endless array of historical & cultural places.
In the 12th century, the Knights Templar cleared the marshlands (Le Marais) of this area and built a medieval fortress, The Temple, as their European headquarters (which is 5 minutes walk from your Paris apartment). From the 16th century, the aristocracy built large residences in this area, following the creation of the Place Royale (Place des Vosges) by Henri IV in 1605. Within minutes walk from this apartment there are also:

* Place des Vosges, including the home of Victor Hugo and cafe Ma Bourgogne
* Musee Picasso
