What happened:
The GA16DE engine is an interference engine.
Since the timing slipped, valve damage occurred.
Car needs a new engine.

Timing slipped during parking and turning engine off.

After dismantling parts of the car, bagging and tagging parts as I went, I discovered the idler sprocket teeth had been worn down and the upper timing chain slipped.

Issues to be aware of:
Periodically, the smell of gas came through the AC when the windows were rolled down. I could prevent this by turing off the AC and equalizing the levels of both windows. The AC blew cold and worked fine otherwise.
