Description: Come join Intuit as part of the Consumer Group team as a Group Manager, Development. We are looking for creative problem solvers with a passion for innovation to join our team and revolutionize the way the world does business.

This position is responsible for managing the development for the Consumer Group’s Help Customer Experience. You will work closely with product managers, user researchers, engineers, and other development staff to define requirements, design, implement, and test new functionality. You will lead cross-functional initiative teams to develop end-to-end solutions that address customer needs in innovative ways. You will mentor other team members and ensure that work done complies with requirements, architectural context, and design. This position collaborates with and influences other engineers, software architects, and managers to solve complex challenges spanning multiple development teams and software architectures. Also responsible for implementing software development best practices and process improvement activities, and for identifying and implementing new technologies that address customer needs.

Technical Leadership
• Be a key leader contributing to strategic business goals for Help, formulate a roadmap, and drive for release to customers.
• Approve technical decisions, informed by Principle/Staff/Senior developers and engineers.
• Drive fast, simple, and robust principles to sustain high-availability and high-volume support websites, Live Community and “external content” features such as the Help “Right Rail” -- with rapid and iterative releases.
• Remain on the forefront of emerging industry practices.
• Extend technical influence beyond current team - contribute to the larger team’s roadmaps.

People Management
• Nourish innovation within team, and strike the balance between innovation and defined business goals.
• Grow team skills by ensuring that project tasks are in line with each innovator's career interests when possible.
• Manage and encourage risk without compromising quality.
• Inspire coworkers to attain goals and pursue excellence, recognizing positive behavior and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Challenge team members to develop as leaders while serving as a role model.

Qualifications:
• 7+ years building enterprise class websites and SAS apps: 3+ years as an architect, and 2+ years leading direct reports
• Expert in current web development technology – both client side and server side implementations. Development experience with Apache, JBoss, ATG, Java, JSP, AJAX, Flash, Flex, Rich Internet Applications, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Apache and MySQL.
• Strong knowledge of Web/UI development methodologies and practices.
• Experience in the development of social applications.
• Familiarity with agile software development methodologies a plus.
• *Ability to apply business needs and customer focus to engineering recommendations
• BS in computer science or relevant experience.
