This recently renovated 3 bedroom maisonette is situated on the top 2 floors of a low-rise block just inside the congestion charging zone. Access to the house is through a heavy-duty electronic security door at the bottom of the communal stairs. Access is shared with only 5 other houses, all with friendly neighbours.
The available room has a double bed, plenty of storage space and the option of a large desk if needed. It also has views of the London skyline including Millbank tower, the London Eye, Shell Tower, Tower 42, the Barbican and the Gherkin. It is located on the north side of the house away from the main road, which combined with the secondary glazing make for a very quiet room.
Downstairs there is a well equipped kitchen and hall with oven, glass electric hob, microwave, 2 fridges, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and bread making machine! The living room/dining room has 2 sofas, a large dining table with leather chairs, a balcony and a 37" plasma TV with Sky+ HD, including the movie channels, surround sound and blu-ray player. Solid oak floors are in the hall and living room.
At the top of the illuminated stairs are a separate bathroom and toilet, along with the 3 bedrooms.
The flat is 1 mile from Big Ben, which can be heard chiming. Opposite the house is a large Tesco supermarket, a good pub, self-storage warehouse and a BP petrol station. Within 5 minutes walk in opposite directions are Vauxhall tube station (for the Victoria line) and Kennington tube station (for both branches of the Northern line). Kennington cross has many good pubs, some open 'til late, 2 of the best Indian restaurants in London (Official top 50), a couple of pizza restaurants and various others. Kennington Park is a 5 minute walk away. The Oval cricket ground can be seen from the living room (sadly not the cricket action itself!).
Kennington Cross has both day and night buses (59, 159, N159 and N3 along with 133, 155, N155 nearby and 196 stopping outside the house) These run up via Waterloo, Westminster and Lambeth bridges into central London. Vauxhall bus station has buses towards Victoria, Battersea, Clapham Junction etc. Vauxhall mainline station runs into Waterloo and towards Clapham Junction and the south-west.
As the house is just within the congestion charging zone all residents of the house are entitled to a 90% discount for the congestion charge. On-street parking will require a residents permit which can be obtained at extra cost.
You'll be sharing with a friendly, recently graduated couple. Rent includes bills and council tax.
