POSITION SUMMARY

As a Senior Software Architect within the Infrastructure department you will be responsible for developing the system architecture of future generations of the core routing infrastructure. This infrastructure is responsible for the world-wide connectivity and the services to which they communicate, the system is highly scalable and reliable, with distributed intelligence and disaster recovery capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will work closely with other departments responsible for designing the overall end-to-end architecture as well as the internal teams responsible for the design and implementation of the components required to realize the infrastructure architecture. Responsibilities also include supporting the software design teams, resolving technical issues, creating and reviewing design documents, performing feasibility studies, evaluating the impact of new features and technologies, and assisting in the definition of the system test strategy and the protocol implementation conformance statements.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing, building and maintaining large-scale mission critical infrastructure. They must be able to balance short-term project needs with long term product goals and advising the management team on strategic technical direction. Broad experience in software systems development, design and/or architecture in the telecommunications and/or network infrastructure sectors is a definite asset, along with R&D experience in the following areas: design and implementation of large-scale distributed systems; implementation and application of Internet protocols, messaging systems, email and instant messaging.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) is required
5+ years of senior software architecture experience including systems requirement and functional specifications of systems or software, high level design and implementation of software systems
15+ years of software development experience in a high tech environment
Experience producing and reviewing system and feature level documentation
Deep working knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Should be able to document designs and implementations in a formal manner
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills
