JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
TITLE: Residential Counselor
PROGRAM: Habakkuk’s House Youth Transitional Living Programs
SALARY: Full-Time $24, 960.00 Yearly
On-Call/Part-Time/Weekends $12.00 Per Hour
SHIFTS: 7:00 am-3:00 p.m. 3:00 pm-11:00 pm 11:00 pm –7:00 am
CURRENT SHIFTS AVAILABLITY: On-Call/Part-Time/Weekends needed at present facility, and all shifts needed for new facility (underway)
Habakkuk’s House, a subsidiary of God’s Anointed New Generation is seeking highly energetic, compassionate, dedicated and motivated individuals with a high level of tolerance, and a heart to serve.
RESPONSIBILITES:
Residential Counselors are responsible for conducting intake interviews, constant client supervision, life skills training, individual and group counseling sessions. In addition responsibility includes attending staff and residential counselors meetings, client reviews, court appearances, school meetings and doctor/therapy appointments. Other duties include housekeeping, meal preparation, minor facility maintenance, assuring house rules and procedures are maintained at all times by staff and residents. Conducts room searches/checks, conducts monthly fire drills/safely checks, prepares unusual incidents reports as well as works closely with social workers ensuring all necessary services are in place during residents stay in the program as well as prepares exit/discharge plan at the completion of program.
DUTIES:
• Direct Supervision of youth
• Conducts intake interviews/which includes completion of Intake Paperwork
• Facilitate in-house Individual/Group Counseling Sessions
• Provide constant LIFE SKILLS TRAINING
• Conducts Individual/Group Crisis Intervention/Anger Management/Conflict Resolution Sessions
• Supervise activities/outings/including residents departure to school
• Follows up on residents passes/which includes social worker approval for designated locations- ensuring residents are at designated locations
• Daily facility log documentation
• Knowledge of safety and emergency procedures/conducts monthly fire drills, daily carbon monoxide/smoke detectors checks
• Provide emergency coverage when necessary
• Assist Administrator with setting up collaboration services/programs for youth
• Dispense Medication
• Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFIACTIONS:
The ideal candidate must have at least five (5) years direct experience working with adolescents or youth ages 16-21 with mental and/or emotional behavior, flexible to work day, evening and night shifts. Must demonstrate excellent oral, verbal and written communication skills, capable of assisting with implementation of the Individual Service Plan (ISP), and capable of effectively deescalating and managing conflicts and disruptions with residents, staff and community.
