JOB TITLE: LEAD COUNSELOR
SALARY RANGE: $13.50 Per Hour
OPEN PERIOD: September 9, 2009 to September 23, 2009
DUTY LOCATION: Washington, DC
POSITION INFORMATION: Full-Time
REQUIREMENT: Must be available for 24-hour on call duty
DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Administrator, the Lead Residential Counselor ensures that the residents are provided with proper supervision and appropriate care and that the care is in compliance with Child and Family Services Agency Chapter 62 regulation. The Lead Residential Counselor (LRC) works collaboratively with the Administrator to ensure the safety and security, as well as the psychological and physical needs of the residents are being met. The LRC assist with management of the facility; assist with the supervision of Residential Counselors and residents. Conducts at least one group meeting with all Resident Counselors each week to coordinate planning and activities. Responsible for daily inventory and inspections of facility such as, (food, repairs, furniture fixtures, fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide, smoke detectors etc) Assist with ensuring all shifts are covered at both facilities, therefore, candidate must be available 24 hours a day. Serves as a resource and positive role model for both Residential Counselors (RC) and residents at all times. Responsible for logbook updates to include monitoring (RC,) purging logbooks quarterly. Ensures that required postings are updated monthly throughout the facility, such as (Menus, Wash Schedules Residents Chores, and Safety Procedures/Plans etc). Meets daily with the Administrator to address matters relating to the facility, addresses progress of residents, concerns, needs for disciplinary actions etc.
Required Clearances:
• Local DC Clearance
• Local Clearance in the jurisdiction which you reside
• Drug/Alcohol Screenings
• Medical Clearance to include TB test
• Current CPR/First Aid Certifications
• 5 year drivers record
EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
• 2 years experience in the management or supervision of child care personnel and programs
• 5 years or direct experience working with adolescents or young adults ages 16-21 with mental and/or emotional behavior
• Capable of assisting with implementation of Individual Service Plans (ISP)
• Capable of developing materials for conducting group sessions
• Demonstrates writing skills sufficient to complete monthly reporting requirements
• Capable of effectively deescalating and managing conflicts and disruptions with residents, staff and community
