For more about Experience Project, visit http://www.experienceproject.com/about.php The product manager will be a core member of the Experience Project team, working closely with company executives, engineers, customer support, and our users. The product to manage is no less than the entire web property itself, with success metrics measured in traffic growth and retention for each of our key vertical products, such as Question and Answers, Groups, Confessions, and so on. You will begin by focusing on arguably the most powerful tool, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and once you have demonstrated your expertise on drawing in new traffic using our incredibly deep content pool, you will then grow into the broader role of product maintenance, improvement, refinement and, ultimately, direction for new functionality. Ideal candidates achieved outstanding grades in pursuing (at minimum) a bachelor’s degree from a top tier university. Work experience can be a plus, particularly in a product-oriented role at a consumer-facing internet company, but we are looking to hire on intelligence, passion and merit, not mere longevity. We believe the best product managers realize the role is both an art and a science, and the former cannot be learned. The role is full-time and based in San Francisco, CA. Responsibilities Include: • Continuously track progress of core site features against success metrics and identify trends • Design, implement, and rapidly iterate on tests for improvements of site features • Act as the product representative during cross-functional meetings – advocating for changes that will advance product success metrics • Conduct user testing and research to improve user interface and functionality elements • Maintain a constant and open dialogue with users to make recommendations on product direction, new feature introductions, and feature removal • Interface between marketing, sales, and engineering teams to execute on revenue-producing programs while maintaining user experience • Create mockups and requirements documents to work with engineering on implementation • SEO analysis –audit new and existing pages and features for SEO optimization and opportunity • SEO opportunity analysis – identify and execute new opportunities for improving high-quality organic search engine traffic Qualifications • Quantitative background and experience – we take a quantitative approach to product management, so being comfortable (and excited by) numbers is a must • Communications – you’re able to effectively communicate and manage requirements cross-functionally: explaining engineering limitations to sales and marketing and sales and marketing requirements to engineers • Organization – you pay a lot of attention to detail, are able to track and monitor multiple tests and initiatives at once, and are proactive in identifying new opportunities and trends • Web/tech enthusiast – you love trying out new web products and reading about the latest and greatest technical innovations and how we may be able to benefit and learn from them • Ability to manage and balance multiple projects; past project management experience a plus especially familiarity with product development stages and processes • We are a startup, so a willingness to work very hard, often with long hours, is a must • Familiarity with Photoshop or other design/wire-framing tools a plus • Previous experience with SEO and web Analytics are a strong plus • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, Javascript, and MySQL strong plus • Very technically-able: You can either build the products yourself (CS or programming background) or are very familiar and comfortable with technology requirements for web development To apply for this position, please fill out our online application at: http://bit.ly/EP-PM |
