Category: Jobs : Teaching, Training & Library
Posted: Over 4 weeks ago in San Diego, CA
Description: Hammer Prep is looking to hire part-time (5-15 hours/week) academic coaches with expertise in math and science for the upcoming school year. Ideal candidates have previous tutoring experience, strong interpersonal skills, stellar academic records, and a passion for teaching. Tutors must be available to tutor through June of 2010.

We're looking to hire tutors for high school level math and science courses. Tutoring assignments are available in North County San Diego and South County San Diego. However, most of our clients live in Del Mar, Carmel Valley, and Rancho Santa Fe. Students usually request tutors between the hours of 3p and 8p and weekends. Pay is $22 to $25 per hour + 50 cents per mile. Starting pay depends on experience and test results (yes, we test all tutors!). Stellar tutors will be asked to join our small team of full-time tutors.

About Us
Founded in 2002 by Andy Hemmerich, a product of Torrey Pines High School and Stanford University, Hammer Tutoring has established itself as a leader in one-on-one academic tutoring and test preparation throughout San Diego. We assist students in math and science, grades 7-12, as well as prepare students for standardized tests.

Our philosophy
We believe that high grades and test scores are attributable to three factors: conceptual knowledge, study technique, and motivation. Consequently, we create personalized programs that address all three areas in order to maximize the learning experience. Thus, we prefer to call our approach coaching.

Tutors will be provided with:

* Educational Material
* Ongoing Support
* Competitive Wages and Bonuses

How to Apply:

* Send an e-mail to mcoleman@hammerprep.com
* Include a short paragraph (5 to 7 sentences) in the body of the e-mail that includes:
1. Your prior tutoring/teaching experience
2. Parts of San Diego in which you're willing to drive to (please be specific, i.e. Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas, etc.)
3. Test Scores (SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, MCAT, etc.)
4. Undergraduate school G.P.A. and/or Graduate school G.P.A.
* Attach your resume as a Microsoft Word Document

Thank you for your interest in Hammer Tutoring. We will reply to all qualified candidates.
