| Description: | Manufacturer of heavy duty thrusters for marine applications seeks a wwelding engineer for a direct hire opportunity. $65,000 to $70,000 a year DOE. Candidates with naval experience will be given special consideration. Welding Engineer Responsibilities -Develop welding techniques, procedures, and applications of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles. -Develop new fabrication processes and procedures which comply with numerous applicable marine classification society rules, and improve existing or develop new element designs, methods, techniques, and procedures. Prepare material and time studies of new designs for material and resource planning purposes. -Establish welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post-heating requirements. -Support the design team in the design of fabricated parts, and acts as a member of the approval team for design approval. -Directs and coordinates technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure workers' compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards; in testing welds for conformance with national code requirements; or testing welding personnel for certification. -Contact personnel of other agencies, engineering personnel, or clients to exchange ideas, information, or offer technical advice concerning welding matters. The ideal candidate will possess the following traits: BSWE/BSWET – Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology AWS-certified Welding Engineer Certified Welding Inspector Chief Petty Officer in the Damage Control (DC) rating with experience emphasizing welding. Familiarity with marine classification societies and their approval processes. Ideal candidate will be well-versed in both theory and practice of various sorts of welding and brazing including: Flame Inductive Repairing castings Aluminum To be considered: · Please provide G.P.A. average. · Must meet minimum qualifications and requirements. · Please provide salary requirements and salary history. |
