There's an adage in the newsroom here at The Star-Ledger that every big story that breaks out, no matter where, will have some kind of New Jersey angle. That has never been more true than this week, where everyday Jerseyans were popping up all over the news, staking their claim to 15 minutes of fame with deeds ranging from touching and lovable to heroic and horrific. Any Jersey native should be able to find something to be proud of in the four stories featured on today's show. First, there's Wall Township native John Pontolillo, a college student who killed a would-be intruder at his Baltimore apartment with a Samurai sword he happened to have handy. Then, there's the David beats Goliath victory by Long Branch residents who won an eminent domain battle against the city and this week were officially allowed to keep their beloved homes. Then, you had the emergence of a new national right-wing hero, Bergen County native James O'Keefe III, whose masquerade sting videos have caused a national furor and criminal probe of the community group ACORN.
