Do I need a Justgiving page to use the Justgiving Facebook app?

Not at all. You can promote any Justgiving page you want. It could be your own, or a friend's or even a popular public appeal such as the Atheist Bus or Gaza appeal.

Which charities can I support?

You can support any of the 5,000 UK charities registered with Justgiving. You can also support any registered US nonprofit via the Firstgiving Facebook app.

What happens to each donation?

1. We keep it in our Charities Trust Account and at the end of the week we send 100% to the charity.
2. We reclaim Gift Aid on it by the end of the month.
3. We deduct our 5% fee (+VAT) and the credit/debit card fee from the Gift Aid, and send the rest to the charity.

So for every £10 you donate, the charity receives almost £12 (see our table below for full details). If your donation isn't eligible for Gift Aid, we subtract all the fees from the donation and send it to the charity at the end of the week.

Unlike most other fundraising methods, the charity only pays for the service after it has made money. That's why our member charities find Justgiving good value. Using us means they can spend more time and energy on doing good and leave the costly, time-consuming admin stuff to us.
