AccuWeather is seeking a Senior Interactive Designer to create best-in-class creative designs and user interfaces for its New Media division. This division creates products for many digital channels, including, but not limited to: web, wireless, TV, and digital signage. We're looking for someone who:
- Is willing to "roll up your sleeves" and handle both production and design work.
- Brings a high level of professionalism including being open to the opinions of multiple stakeholders and staying flexible as business needs change.
- Conceptualizes creative direction and executes designs for a variety of digital media platforms.
- Provides strategic design thinking and support to determine the style, technique and medium best suited to produce the desired results, conforming to AccuWeather.com interactive requirements.
- Utilizes online design expertise to update and improve current digital assets, and
- Demonstrates a strong degree of self-motivation, bringing fresh enthusiasm and creativity to each new project.
Responsibilities:
- Developing product concepts, offering multiple design options and performing hands-on creative execution on projects. Creating creative design solutions for multi-platform products, including, but not limited to: web, wireless, TV and digital signage.
- Applying AccuWeather.com design standards to all New Media digital properties. This includes, but is not limited to, usability, template design, functionality, layout, and user experience. Determining and enhancing the look and feel of existing content, and developing new design concepts.
- Collaborating with other design teams across AccuWeather, Inc. to maintain awareness of status and project deliverables. Providing creative solutions that work across network of sites and properties from global to local markets.
Requirements:
- BA degree preferred, or equivalent work experience in fine art, graphic design, interactive design, etc. is required.
- Minimum 5-7 years experience in digital design.
- Knowledge of latest web technologies and trends.
- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc.).
- Strong Flash design skills, including knowledge of ActionScript 2.0 and 3.0.
- Experience with web design languages such as HTML, CSS, XHTML, DHTML, JavaScript, and ActionScript.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems
- Experience preparing files for ad serving software.
- The ability to create great designs under pressure; work proactively and handle multiple task simultaneously; manage time effectively to ensure the timely completion of assigned projects.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Demonstrate a high degree of integrity and professionalism, as well as an outstanding work ethic.
- Use independent judgment and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information is essential.
