Wistful & Gentle
2:53pm on September 11, 2009

The band had a great time out in Pomona last week with all their fans and Band Of Horses. Was great to be playing with these guys - their set was amazing.

Cool blog Speed Of Dark was at the show and did a nice review of the show, with photos of Gus and Charlie, but sadly not even a mention that Jake Blanton was on stage with the band on bass, or that John Wood was on keys, but we can forgive her that!

You can read the review here.

Also, John Wood’s own band, Learning Music, recently did a remix project, which included a remix of Willoughby's Intentions. Check it out on Learning Music's website.

New Compilation and Bootleg Theatre Show
4:27pm on July 10, 2009

Here’s a special Friday bulletin.  Brilliant blog losanjealous has teamed up with Limewire - yes, the program you can use to steal music. (Limewire have gone legit, incase you didn’t know, and are now like Napster.  You pay a fee, you get lots of music. And they’re really supportive of independent music.  Which is cool.) Limewire do a sampler series called Ear To The Ground. They feature cities - Brookyln, Seattle, Berlin, San Francisco - and they’re top indie bands. The great thing is, the sampler is free. Always. You just have to (cause we want you to check them out too) go to losanjealous.com (click here now) and follow the link.
Lots of great music from friends, bands we like, and bands we are discovering here.
They’ve done an LA Sampler and it’s now out.  We are honored to have been asked to be on it.  Thanks! And you should check it out cause while you hopefully have Frankenstein already (our contribution), there are lots of great songs by great people on there - check out our good friends Inara George and the brilliant, social Van Dyke Parks, Daedelus, a great song from Princeton, Kenan, Henry Clay, really loads - don’t want to just list them all so go get it. You have to register with Limewire, but it’s free.

PLUS... Willoughby will be playing a show on Tuesday, July 28 at the Bootleg Theatre with our good friends Obi Best headlining.  We’ve been recording some new songs, and getting them ready for the Band Of Horses show in Pomona at the end of August, so this will be our first chance to play some of those for you. Some you already know from the live shows. Tickets for the show are $8 - looks like they’re available at the door. 2220 Beverly Blvd.

Willoughby to support Band Of Horses
5:19pm on May 13, 2009

Band Of Horses have announced a special one-off concert in Pomona this summer, with Willoughby appearing as their guest.  We’re looking forward to playing new songs in such a great venue (the Fox Theatre), and with a great band asking us to join them.  It’s worth the trip to Pomona folks - come on out for a great Saturday night (August 29). There is a special ticket presale starting tomorrow at 10:00am. The password is, cleverly, HORSES.
