Redneck GReece is set to release a new song just in time for Christmas 2008.

The song "Santa and the Trucker" will be released as a CD single and proceeds will benefit the Jack R. Wells Boys and Girls Club in Athens, GA.
"Santa and the Trucker" is a wholesome children-friendly song (in spite of Rick and Redneck) that should entertain both kids and adults alike.

The recording is taking place at Rick Fowler's studio in Athens, GA and is being produced by Redneck and Rick Fowler.
The musicians on the song are among the finest Athens has to offer, Drive By Truckers' Patterson Hood (voice of Santa) and John Neff (pedal steel guitar), Randall Bramblett (piano), Widespread Panic's Domingo S. Ortiz (percussion), Rick Fowler (lead guitar), Tom Ryan (bass guitar), and introducing Redneck's son Glenn Reece on drums.

The official release date will be December 6, 2008 which will coincide with the annual benefit concert held a Locos restaurant in Athens with Redneck GReece performing.

The Whigs are one of the best up and coming bands in the nation and their hometown Athens GA shows are becoming more and more legendary and less frequent.

They will have completed the touring behind their fantastic 2008 release Mission Control so this may be the last chance to see them for a while.

South San Gabriel is the alter-ego project from Denton TX's immortal Centro-Matic.

Whereas Centro-matic is full-on Rock, SSG is a quieter and more lush sound.

Their new album, the double disc Dual Hawks (featuring one disc each from Centro-Matic and South San Gabriel) is flat out one of the most beautiful and best albums of the year.

Drive-by Truckers are playing a handful of dates in early 09 as part of The Righteous Path Tour 2009 but for a while will be mostly focusing on beginning our next album so the dates will be much less frequent than last year.

We have been proud supporters of Nuci's Space since it opened in 1999.

We have seen first hand the amazing work they do and we highly urge you to check out what they do and how they do it.

It truly is a unique and remarkable program on every level.

Thursday January 15th at The Fabulous 40 Watt Club in Athens GA.

That weekend we will be playing our annual 40 Watt Club Homecoming Weekend Show
January 16 -17 with special guests Centro-Matic

There will also be some other special announcements concerning the Nuci's Space Benefit and the related Nuci's Space Art Auction which will also be taking place that week, so stay tuned.

Thrilled to announce a few dates for early 2009.

We will be kicking the year off in the studio recording some new tracks for future consumption.

On Thursday Jan 15th we will be headlining our annual DBT NUCI'S SPACE BENEFIT complete with art auction and other related events. Stay tuned for more announcements about the benefit in the near future.

That weekend we will also play our annual homecoming shows in Athens GA at The Fabulous 40 Watt Club.

Stay tuned for an announcement concerning support for the weekend soon.

We are only playing a few select dates in first part of next year to concentrate on the next album, but we will be hitting a few great venues in a few of our favorite towns.

We are about a third into the ROCK AND ROLL MEANS WELL TOUR with our dear friends THE HOLD STEADY and we are pleased to report that it has so far been even better than we had hoped or expected on every level, they are a great band and fantastic guys to hang out with. They bring it every single night and the bar seems to get raised with each show.

It was announced yesterday that Chicago is SOLD OUT as are both nights in Minneapolis.

This has truly been a great way to end our best year ever.

Thanks very much to everyone who has come out and supported us this year.
