Happy 4th of July!
10:10am

Hi all!

Well, I hope you had a great one! Ty and I decided to just have a DATE DAY! Just the two of us, and it was soooo nice! We got up early and headed to Granbury Lake, then rented 2 jet skis and just goofed around and laughed and had a blast for 3 hours on the giant lake. Then we got sushi and caught a flick- The Proposal. It was a cute movie, and so nice to see Alaska on the big screen- isn't it beautiful!? It was so nice just to relax after the busy week in NYC without Ty and my doggie George.

NYC was so much fun, and we got so much done! First of all, singing at the fundraiser for The Trevor Project was just inspiring. For those of you who don't know, The Trevor Project is a hotline and support group for at-risk gay, lesbian, transgendered or questioning youth. My pal Caroline Rhea was the host. She is sooo funny and it was great to see her. I also got to see some inspiring young kids make some great speeches- brave kids and so proud of them all. To read more about my week in NYC, see more pictures and the performance video from the NBC 4th of July special, click here!

Better late than never
10:37am on July 3, 2009

Ok, I have meant to post this video forever now! As you all know, Ty and I went to the Bahamas for vacation and we got to do all kinds of amazing things! We even did a Discover Scuba class and we did a dive out in the middle of the ocean- crazy! We fed white gigantic lizards, jet skied, and swam with sharks! But I think one of my favorite things we did was feed swimming pigs. Yes- I said swimming pigs. They live on an island, and when they see a boat come near, they swim out to it for food. We also got on the beach to pet and feed them more. Of course Ty pretended to ride one for a picture- he just stood over one while it walked, but it was funny! So, without further ado - click here to see the swimming pigs video! I will post more pictures from vacation soon I hope- as soon as I get some free time. Enjoy! xxj

Roxy video blog - part 2
7:28am on June 19, 2009

Hi All,
By popular request, last week we began with our first videoblog installment of the May 10th Free Fan Concert at The Roxy. Since this special event, Alan has received countless inquiries about Jewel sharing this footage, which he's neglected to answer, but now as you know - we are rolling! Last week's installment, appropriately enough was the beginning of the concert. It contained master of ceremonies, Perez Hilton, introducing me, followed by the first three songs of the set. This week we continue with the next two songs of the set, "Last Dance Rodeo" and "Everything Breaks." This sequence also includes a lengthy monologue revealing the inspiration behind "Last Dance Rodeo." To see the video, click here!

Sail away!
9:13am on June 15, 2009

Hello All!
So many topics to cover! Ok, gonna tackle them one by one.

First of all, I LOVED the fan video!! So many things strike me. First of all, your collective creativity- I'm so proud that you all feel inspired and empowered to create and have fun. I was so concerned when I got famous that it would feel like a prison where people look at you mindlessly in a idol, or as I like to say 'idle' worship. But I was so happy to see early on that my fans have felt encouraged to be creative themselves and to build a community that becomes as much, if not more, about each other as it is about me. The video was enjoyable on 2 levels for me- the first just the sheer joy of watching the nun/stripper, and the potato shoved into jeans, and all of you dance and sing for me! The second is that I love seeing you reach out to each other and build a community. It's so important on so many levels that we help and be there for those around us. It's so cool to see the world shrink, where a community of folks can be in all the states here, but also reach to Uruguay, France, Australia, Brazil- the list goes on! So, thank you all for the sequel. Ty and I loved it! To read more and to see which songs I've been working on, be sure to click here!

Satisfied
4:49pm on June 5, 2009

HI ALL!

I've been so busy trying to get some rough demos of a bunch of songs- it was really a grueling few days! I have always been pretty hard on myself, and of course now I have a million other people's opinions in my head to sort through! That's why I have usually taken so much time in between albums- just to get my head clear so I can hear my own voice again and see what interests me. And I feel I have always managed to do so. The fun part of starting this next album has been taking the time to go through songs I have meant to finish for years! I got to add bridges and clean up songs I don't even remember writing- all thanks to stuff you guys have posted on youtube and the web! You have been the best fans and I can't tell you how glad I am that you have all been so passionate and outspoken about what you like. You have helped keep songs alive all these years until I could get back to them. I want to debut a brand new song and see how you guys like it! I always love your thoughts. I included the lyrics here so you could follow along...but you need to click here to see the video and check it out! xxj
