This was a totally amazing, once-in-a-lifetime show. If you ever want to see McCartney - catch this tour NOW! It would have been worth a $300 ticket and we were so lucky he kept it affordable for the Piedmont Park Conservancy! We walked in from my friend Jean's house in Va-Hi and got in early at 4 but by the time we walked/ran down to the stage we were back down by the soundboard but spread out our blanket and settled in for the long wait until Sir Paul was to start at 8:30. We had a good view of the stage and the jumbotrons on either side of the stage were a big help as of course we were a way back. The lawn/hills filled with eager concert goers and the wait was on. The opening band started at 7 and I wound up missing seeing them as I was standing in the long lines at the food vendors. Big mistake only having about 10 food stands to serve 50,000 people trapped in an area from 4 pm until 11:15 pm LOL! Had been told there would be free water once you bought a bottle but this wasn't the case but we survived the blazing GA sun with a few rounds of water bottles. (This was to be eco-friendly and yet a ton of plastic abounded!) We downed our supper then as people started filling in and crowding around we decided to abandon the blanket and packed up our spot to get ready for the crush when Sir Paul hit the stage. Excitement built at 8:15 when they started commercials (boo) then at 8:30 they started running film collages of McCartney/Beatles/Wings over the years getting us ready Then about 8:45 out comes the MAN! Baby You Can Drive My Car rocked out socks off and it was a a totally amazing show. We even got a killer version of Helter Skelter. It never ceases to amaze me that bands are still rocking out and wowing the crowds after 45 years. Last night was the 45th anniversary of their Shea Stadium Show and 40 years of Woodstock and he told us an amazing story about Jimi Hendrix that was cool. Told us Jimi learned Sgt. Peppers in 2 days time and played it and that once was on stage with Eric Clapton in the audience and as Jimi's guitar technique with the device that distorts the sound causes it to go way out of tune - Jimi asked Eric to tune his guitar for him mid-show and Eric tried to hide and refused to do it - said you are on your own there! Keith and I were both in tears during several songs - My Love Does It Good, The Long and Winding Road etc. and I have to say we are still amazed that we got to see him - it was Keith's first time seeing a Beatle and my second McCartney show an we both hope will never be our last. We got the most amazing fireworks/firepots during Live and Let Die and I am hoping a DVD will come out of this tour. It is not to be missed. He closed with a medley starting with Sgt. Pepper and we trudged the 1-2 miles back to Jean with a glow in our hearts that is still there. Thank you Sir Paul - your music will never die and you are truly THE LEGEND. I just wish John and George were still with us. I'm sad it's over now but will keep this wonderful show's memories with me forever. I went to my first McCartney show (Biker Like An Icon in the 80s) by myself and it was perfect having my wonderful husband by my side.
