Wynonna Judd

A funny thing happened when Wynonna Judd came to the GAC studio to tape an episode of The Collection — she and Bill Cody enjoyed their chat so much, they lost track of time! At the end of the taping, there was so much must-see footage that editors created an episode of Master Series.

"I'm an ordinary woman that extraordinary things have happened to. I am the American dream," says Wynonna. In her signature forthright style, the multi-platinum star talks with Bill about the personal and professional ups and downs of her 25-year career on Master Series, premiering Sunday, July 5 at 11 a.m. ET.

Quick to credit Bonnie Raitt as one of her biggest influences, Wy admits that as a teenager in Kentucky she was always "Hoping she'd (Raitt) pull into the driveway and save my life and take me on her bus and take me out of Appalachia." More than 20 million albums later, it seems that Wynonna – both with The Judds and as a solo artist – has done just fine on her own.

As half of The Judds, Wynonna traveled the globe living a lifestyle typically reserved for rock stars. "This is not a business to find balance, people. This is not about moderation. This is about going as fast and as big as you can." Yet it was motherhood that helped her strike a balance. "It was Elijah (now 14) that actually brought me home, that brought me back to knowing who I am."

Having just released Sing: Chapter 1, her new CD, Wynonna admits, "I'm still that 18-year-old on the back porch trying to sound as sassy as Bonnie Raitt." Tune in to Master Series, Sunday, July 5 at 11 a.m. Eastern for more with the always-candid, always-entertaining redhead.
