Sound

I still have somewhere all the vynils (except a live I had on audio cassette, recorded by a friend) that I bought in the 80's, but unfortunately I have no longer a turntable ... So it is a long time since I have not listened to The Sound. A great, great group, with a great sense of rythms ans melodies (one of my favorite groupe). Borland was a genious, but also schizophrenic ... What a pity there had not be as famous as groups like The Cure, New Order, ... They deserved.

Funny...I just noticed all the songs (or the top several) are Spanish / Portuguese. What's up with that? Obviously not the same songs by The Sound. Sometimes iLike is incredibly sloppy, inaccurate.

I agree with Izabella, as good as some of the early studio tracks are, most of them shine twice as brightly on their "In the Hothouse" double-lp (originally, when vinyl was mass produced) and their ep "Live Instinct", which was raw, biting and propulsive. I love the fact iLike has 'Thunder Up' as the main picture because it was the first music by The Sound I'd heard, found in a northern Virginia indie record shop in the mid-80s for $7.99. For those of you who can't get enough of The Sound (or Adrian Borland's solo material) check out the band Into Paradise. Adrian was their producer and the lead singer sounds a lot like Adrian. Their songs aren't as good, but they are a worthy band. Well worth your time.
