Shirley Horn

I saw Shirley at one of her last concerts at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in May 2005. I felt so bad for her and her health but she came out like a trooper and performed a short set. She was frail and in a wheelchair but her voice was bold and beautiful. I was very upset to learn of her passing in October 2005. I've never grieved the loss of another person as much as I grieved her passing. I loved this woman, even though I never met her. She is irreplaceable.

I thought we had 'more time'... I'm sadden by the lost of 'the music' that was still to come. You taught me sooo much. I love you, I miss you.., I still needed you. I pray Peace for the family you left behind. You were LOVED.

I saw Shirley in Hollywood 2 nights in a row, 10 years ago. If you want to hear singing so beautiful and sincere it makes you cry, sit down and listen to "All My Tomorrows."

I'm still learning about Shirley Horn. Heard about her from a coworker who knows her(i think). I love her voice. She's a true talent. So far my favorite song by Ms. Horn is "Quietly There". That song is beautiful!

Shirley Horn's smoky ,lush voice cooed a love song,more than she sang it.Weaving a picture in your mind with her eloquently controlled pipes.This jazz diva is in a class all of her own.
