No Other Name Hosts Free Nashville
Concert To Support Missions Dec. 6
Curb Records’ group sets $25,000 goal for
Lottie Moon Christmas Offering to fund over 5,500 missionaries worldwide
Nov. 23, 2009 (Nashville, TN) – Curb Records’ Christian music newcomer No Other Name is hosting a free concert Sunday, December 6 at Inglewood Baptist Church to support international missions.
Currently touring on behalf of the International Mission Board (IMB) of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), No Other Name has a set a goal to collect $25,000 at the concert to benefit the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, an annual campaign that supports over 5,500 missionaries around the world. The musical trio will give 100 percent of the offering collected during their performance to the Lottie Moon initiative.
“It’s our desire to see churches passionate for missions,” says No Other Name member Laura Allen. “This is not to say that most people are not already involved in some way. We just want to fan the flame and maybe make someone think about something they've never thought about before.”
A longstanding passion for No Other Name members Sam Allen, sister Laura and Chad Smith, sharing the Gospel globally influenced the group this year to partner with the Southern Baptist Executive Committee to help encourage people to pray for and get involved in missions. The Nashville-based group recently completed headlining its 30-city, SBC-sponsored “Go Tell” tour and secured more than 150 people to participate alongside them in a mission trip next summer.
Known for their tight harmony, powerful sound and thoughtful lyrics, No Other Name has been performing around the nation for over a decade. The group is set to release its first full CD, Lead You to the Cross, on Curb Records next spring while the album’s title track is already garnering radio success this year. Songs from the No Other Names’ current EP can currently be downloaded from iTunes. For more information on the group, visit www.noothername.com
The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering is named after Charlotte Digges "Lottie" Moon (December 12, 1840 – December 24, 1912), a missionary of what is now known as the International Mission Board who spent nearly 40 years serving in China. As a teacher and evangelist she laid a foundation for traditionally solid support for missions among churches in America. The annual campaign has raised a total of $1.5 billion for missions since 1888.
The free concert will begin at 6 pm at Inglewood Baptist Church located at 3901 Gallatin Rd., Nashville.
