"Listen to MAD SHEER KHAN…and you will understand why !” Since his consecration at the Festival RIVIERA '76 at the Castellet, organized by Michael Lang, yes... the Woodstock producer himself !,Mad Sheer Khan gave more than 1500 concerts. The greatest festivals invited him on their scenes. All have an imperishable memory of him. MAD SHEER KHAN is a rare virtuoso and visionary. This warrior musician, multi-instrumentalist born in the kasbah of Algiers always militated for a free creation as a composer-songwriter and producer. Off track artist , independent militant since his beginning. He produced his first LP “Rahmann” (Polydor 1980) featuring Didier Lockwood. Leader of the "TAG" (Tradition and Avant-garde), movement of which he is the creator since 1973, he transposes his Afro-Asian origins (he studied with the greatest Masters the instruments and musics from Persia (tar/Santur) Bengali Baul, Maroccan Gnawa...) to sonorities most current electro, and rock to draw from it a powerful and captivating music. Signed in 1998 by the prestigious record company Erato, (Warner/Atlantic Records), he composed and produced the essential, "1001 Nights", pacifist disc to unify who brings together 7 female vocalists from 7 different nations. A talent for years shared with : Nico (egery of the velvet), Sapho, Jean-Louis Aubert, Faithless, Mickael Riley (Steel Pulse), Mickael Hutchence (INXS), Keziah Jones or Sting… SAMARKAND HOTEL TOUR With "Samarkand Hotel", Mad Sheer Khan revisit the work of Jimi Hendrix through the sound of his Dilruba (rare violin of Rajasthan, boosted with wha-wha and distortion), transposing the universe of the Voodoo Child in a timeless dimension, almost unreal, mixing ritual trance with a virtuosity and a rare richness of sonorities that the legendary left-handed person would undoubtedly not have disavowed...He ressuscites Hendrix for our greater happiness, with a splendid and incomparable style. “The music of Mad Sheer Khan takes with the tripe and the heart while making us travel well beyond our borders. The songs of Hendrix and his own compositions, both mix in a very natural way. His virtuosity, the richness of his universe, his simplicity, his authenticity make of him an artist really special and of each one of his concerts an event which one does not come back unscathed...." In a world where all is reduced, arranged in boxes, MAD SHEER KHAN is resolutely different. DEMONCRAZY TOUR His new album is resolutely anchored in an extreme topicality: buschism, oil, Iraq,terror, X-RAY camp from GUANTANAMO, anti-personnel mines, business handling and egoism of the policies, monitoring and dictatorial populations controls (more and more of camcorders and of listening from Big Brother) . As many visited topics which are in the peace fight of MAD SHEER KHAN, in the line of the rebel Seventies from where he is coming. Two splendid homages on this album of 15 titles, one with the muse of the Velvet Underground, Nico, with who he recorded in 1981 this same "Orly Flight", anthem to the exiled clandestine, and one to EDWIN STAR with " War" from initial Vietnam to current Iraq. A title of hope "Awake" whose words were written for the music of Mad Sheer Khan by a high Buddhist dignitary "the 12e reincarnation of the Tal Stupa". An album which awakes us, which surprise, inside the tumults of life, from sadness too often familiar up to the acid laugh, from the lampoon on political cynicism until the primal energy of the combative rock, Mad Sheer Khan once again surprises us by his diversity and his richness. An inimitable and astounding sound which brings us up to the heart of a Tribal Rock, supported by warriors tribal percussions, mixed to the powerful breath of his faithful Dilruba, violin of India to the inexhaustible sonorities, expressed by this brillant virtuoso, rare and visionary.
