well it depends what type of diabeties ! did she get it when she was really young or when she ages ! and how old were your mom when she got it ! then i can answer your question

or adult-onset diabetes... and its very common for old people specially if they are over weight, and most of the people get diabetes 2 when they age, you should only worry if you have someone in your relative with diabetes 1 that you get when you are younger than 20 yrs. +5 ...... its pretty common! and dont worry you should only worry if you were younger than 20 but you passed that too late to get diabetes 1, and diabetes 2 as far as i know is not inherited...
