GWUG Proposal by kilos

I reckon we should have a WUGMeet to see how much interest can be drummed up and we can start collecting some donations/equipment I have a 2.4 Ghz Omni-directional antennae (SSID: grwug1) which I will be setting up on my roof to get the ball rolling, till I have funds to purchase my 802.11n 5.8 Ghz test kit , currently I have lost my contract in Dubai. 2.4 Ghz is too congested hence the ideal is 5.8Ghz kit. I have a Ubiquiti SR5 (5.8 Ghz) radio card but no antennae to connect it up to. Thats how WUG's start by 2 people connecting up. We can setup a flat network across George until we secure a high site. Please let me know if if you can see the SSID: grwug1 in the George-East area. Potentials clients: Imel & Charl Standard: 802.11n - faster thruput and Ubiquiti 802.11n CPE (Customer Premise equipment) kit much cheaper than Mikrotik Cons: Limited features as in the MikroTik Services provided: * Web server - Linux distros++ * Vmware Server with test Oracle 11g Database Instance running * Asterisk NOW VoIP PBX Future Plans:What dreams are made of George Hotspots using Ubiquiti Picostations: It would be fantastic if we can provide an PBX for WUG members & family if you are anywhere close to George hotspots No more cellphone charges - require a Wireless VOIP phone. The hotspots will be scattered around George connecting via a Ubiquiti Nanostation M to the High site, use the Picostation hotspots to connect too Also connect your laptop via VPN back to your SOHO network Read More...
