(fluff)Economics 101 - Some big changes in the world of (fluff)Foods

What changed, and why?
Every (fluff)Friend is different - that is a Fact of (fluff)Life.

Unfortunately, some of these differences, such as the different reactions that Fluffs may have to various foods, resulted in considerable unfairness when it came to (fluff)Races.

The (fluff)Council on Economics and Fairness, led by the wise and venerable Piggu, has enacted the following changes:
  1. All (fluff)Foods are now priced between 10 munny and 50 munny, and the price of each (fluff)Food changes daily, based on how many were sold in the past 7 days.
  2. New Ingredients - Fluffs have a wider variety of different reactions to (fluff)Foods - foods your Fluff previously enjoyed may no longer be tasty, but foods previously disliked may now be delicious.
How was the old system - with fixed prices - unfair
Consider the following example: In the old system, prices were always the same: If Cherries cost 14 munny, they would always cost 14 munny. If Cheesecake cost 75 munny, it would always cost 75 munny.

So, if this Munkii happened to enjoy cherries the most and receive a +10 FPH boost, but this Wallaby only received +10 for Cheesecake, then given the same amount of munny, Munkii would always have an unfair advantage.

How are the new (fluff)Food prices determined?
The prices of (fluff)Foods are all spread evenly between 10 munny and 50 munny. To determine Today's Price for a particular (fluff)Food, the (fluff)Council looks at the number that were sold in the past 7 days.
  • If a lot were sold in the past 7 days, then the Demand is high, so today's price will be higher.
  • If very few were sold in the past 7 days, the Demand is low, so today's price will be lower.
  • The supply always remains constant.
  • The new day - and thus the new prices - starts at Midnight GMT.
My Fluff doesn't like the foods it used to like? Why did this change?
The old foods are now made with New ingredients! Every Fluff has unique tastes, but in the past, "Price" was one of the factors in determining how much your Fluff enjoys any particular (fluff)Food.

Now that the prices can change, the reaction is determined solely by the ingredients, and every (fluff)Food has its own unique ingredients. Some (fluff)Foods use the same ingredients (e.g. a Round Burger and a Steak both use "Beef"), but every food is different, so you can experiment with your Fluff to find out which foods it likes the best.
Will my Fluff have a different Favorite Food every day?
No, your Fluff's reactions to a particular food will not change - the ingredients stay the same from day to day. The only thing that changes daily is the price.

So, if you find that your Fluff's favorite food is cookies, your Fluff will still like cookies every day. That won't change.

However, some days cookies may cost more, and some days they may cost less... so on the days when cookies cost more, you'll either have to spend more munny, or you may instead prefer to try something else...

Once you get a sense of your Fluff's reactions to various foods, you can figure out each day what would be the optimal foods to buy.

In general, this new system will allow almost everyone to pay less munny to gain more FPH... the main exception is if your Fluff happened to really like the Boot, but those folks had quite an unfair advantage before =P
What about new (fluff)Foods, with no sales yet? How much will they cost?
New (fluff)Foods will always cost 30 munny.
Isn't this... a bit complicated? =P
The (fluff)Council considered many proposals, but ultimately, Piggu felt that nothing else could achieve the goal of Fairness for the largest number of Fluffs.

Overall, this should help Fluff owners out in many ways:
  • There are a wider variety of inexpensive foods.
  • Which foods are inexpensive changes each day.
  • Rather than just settling on the exact same (fluff)Food every time (boring!), based on the changes in price, a different choice might be better.
  • More variety leads to a more well rounded (fluff)Diet.
