The movie looks as if the director ( Marc Forster ) sent his student film to a producer and they just had to get it to the big screen. "Stay is in a battle with "Alone In The Dark" as worst movie of the year, and that one had Tara Reid playing a scientist .There is nothing here entertaining. Every one in the movie seems depressed and they manage to pass it onto the audience. Seriously it's not as bad as strapping a cat to your body and taking a cold shower, but it's damn close. ( F - )

Its a visually stunning film but the story is twisted and pretty hard to follow. The degree u like this film depends largely on how much u find the ending plot twist acceptable. I think the reveal is less fulfilling than the ones in The Others, Fight Club and Memento, which had reveals tat add meaning to the entire movie that preceded. The reveal for Stay made the entire movie redundant somewhat. Still, its an interesting film that I would recommend to film buffs and fans of the director Marc Forster.

The film looked like a lower-level Mulholland Dr.. And I was very disappointed with the title they translated it in Hong Kong, cause it had disclosed the final twist.

It's all very deep, but in a tricked-up, art-directed sort of way.

Stay is crowded with layers and symbols, probably too many for one movie, and it ultimately wears out its welcome. But its images are compelling, even as its story fades away.

Some people find this twisty and twisted psychological thriller arty and pretentious. I find it arty and provocative.

When the movie is over, and we know all that is to be known, it deserves some thought.

Gosling and McGregor deliver beyond-the-call-of-duty performances that hold you riveted even when the story goes silly.
