Couldn't even get through the first 2 women. Just couldn't keep my attention.
9 different stories with different lives, However,it seems like there's nothing much to relate them...

This movie is supposed to dive into 9 women's lives and how they are all connected. The short parts of each woman is ok at best and the way they show the connection between them all is poorly done to say the least. At least 2 or 3 of them was nearly impossible to make the connection to one another. This movie isnt worth your time.

The whole thing is more than the sum of its parts and is actually quite remarkable.
Rate it 2.5of5stars. Kind of preachy and pompous, like that movie Crash, set in LA. Very believable acting at times, but movie runs flat.
Wow. This movie was very sad and depressing. Great acting by all the actors in every story.
Mildly engaging, not too far detached from Lifetime TV. If you're a lover of that channel (I'm not), then you should love this movie ... by all means, knock yourself out. If you're a lover of that channel (I'm not), then you should love this movie ... by all means, knock yourself out. 'Lives' is composed of nine sequences/episodes, that reveal brief moments about nine different women. Yes, connections are revealed as the film progresses, but the ties that bind aren't as intriguing as they could've been. The parts are certainly better than the sum. One of these parts in particular, stands above the rest. That would be the "Diana" scene with Robin Wright Penn (and Jason Issacs). The best thing about this flick? The camera work. Each scene was done in one shot via Steadicam. *That* was cool, and the best reason to watch - if you're into that sort of thing, or if you want to be a director. Otherwise, pass, and go get Amorres Perros instead.
Just awesome performances. And the one-take camera shots? Mind-numbing! I think this as real cinematic talent, when you can nail a heart-wrenching performance with several characters moving through different rooms, and never cut the camera. Well Done... I loved that they didn't try to weave all the characters together but let them float in and out of each others' lives.
I ducked this one for a while because it sounded like a contrived mess. 9 stories, 9 women, 9 scenes and they're all one take. But after that first scene i felt like a douchebag. Every performance in this is flawless! Each scene is varied from the next, some cross paths with the others and each story could've been a full length movie. Words can't describe how good the scene with Robin Wright Penn and Jason Isaacs is. And the last scene with Glenn Close broke my heart.
