Regardless of that, it still manages to tell an amazing story with very relateable situations and characters. It's probably one of my favorite performances from both Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst, they had the most amazing chemistry together.

I think that probably made it funnier than it really was... never quite sure whether to take it seriously or not, which can be fun in and of itself. Case in point: what company would ever invest $1B into anything without doing some market research into the expected success of the product first? Orlando's outburst over the billion dollar loss and Kirsten's reaction were great.
Something I really really liked for a long time, and then I watched it again and all of a sudden it just didn't seem as spectacular as I originally enjoyed it to be. Still a good one.

Finally a role for Orlando Bloom that doesn't involve something in the realm of fantasy and British Accents. It sorta reminds me of all those extended family get togethers, people in my family are always having. Like Christmas Eve at my Uncle Butch's house. And on a personal note, I too had a 3rd cousin that everyone in my family thought that him and me looked alike, even though we didn't. So that kind of touching sentimentality is what gets me in this film.

Even though I hate Kirsten, I love Orlando, plus it will make the husband happy if I watch with him.
Every recent Crowe movie seems to be worse than the last. What happened to the guy who made Say Anything and Jerry Maguire?
Decent enough film. but how in the world did they use the 57 million dollar budget? i would have guessed 10 mill easily.
Critic Reviews
The film's problems lie with the lack of spark between a wired Dunst and a bland Bloom.full review
Elizabethtown never quite feels like itself, whatever that self might be; it's as if another, subtly but significantly different movie were desperately trying to break through its skin.full review
The trailer for Elizabethtown hits on every major plot point in the film and is roughly 121 minutes shorter. See that instead.full review
Wraps us up with a warmth not unlike a favorite sweater or comforter.full review
What ends up on screen is a jumbled, if good-natured, mess.full review
Elizabethtown needed a raffish, Preston Sturges-esque ensemble to offset the corn.full review
Cameron Crowe's tale of romance and redemptions struggles to sustain a tone of bittersweet whimsy, but its emotions are in the end as undercooked as its ideas.
In its trimmed version, Elizabethtown is nowhere near one of Crowe's great films (like Almost Famous), but it is sweet and good-hearted and has some real laughs.full review
