Did every light in Serenity burnout when Firefly got canceled? I don't know why everything seemed darker than the show, but it was a good movie. The end I'm no so happy with, deaths and all.
old junker sci-fi with plenty of raw emotions... this ain't your altruistic Trekkie federation
This was an excellent movie finale to the exquisite sci-fi series firefly. Screw whoever is responsible for canceling that brilliant, ingenious show.

While it may help to have seen the TV series (I haven't); it's not essential to follow the plot of the film which is essentially a mis-mash of western, horror and sci-fi.
Logic check not on! But it was still scary at certain points - and therefore, the 2 stars. No eye-candy at all in here.
Just an incredible send-off to the most underrated series of all time. Serenity delves into plots that were abruptly departed by the series' cancellation. It ends just the way that it should: feeling completed even though you crave for more.

Serenity is so like TV that it ought to come with a clicker so we can switch over to the next movie at the multiplex.full review
I mean Serenity no disrespect when I say it's enjoyably junky.full review
Serenity is a trim little picture of epic proportions.full review
Can proudly be placed alongside "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Blade Runner" as one of the best science-fiction movies of modern cinema.full review
Though diehard fans probably will take issue, Serenity is mostly sci-fi silliness attempting to be something more substantive.full review
The cast, a handful of sarcastic, working-stiff interstellar outlaws, is a magnetic bunch, turning the clichés of sci-fi adventure inside out.full review
Serenity is made of dubious but energetic special effects, breathless velocity, much imagination, some sly verbal wit and a little political satire.full review
